Anterior Bio:

Anterior developed swiftly on the encounter of four 17 year old school friends, a realization of potential produced a tight line up, originally covering inspirational tunes then rapid succession to composing and playing in their own ferocious style.

On the back of recording a self funded demo over a few days in the summer of 2004 Anterior successfully captured local promoters interest bringing about some memorable early shows, bigger supports soon followed with artists such as ‘Dragon Force’, ‘The Black Dahlia Murder’, ‘Himsa’, and ‘3 Inches Of Blood’.

New songs were recorded at Sonic One studios with producer Tim Hamill in their first real studio effort. Assisted by exposure on network sites like MySpace Anterior gained immediate attention from listeners worldwide, sparking offers from different labels, finally signing a worldwide deal with Metal Blade Records in December 2006.

The recording of the debut album seemed natural with Tim Hamill once more at the helm.
Unfortunately during the writing process Luke encountered medical problems forcing him unfit to play guitar. Subsequently all guitars were recorded by Leon as Luke’s condition was more permanent than first thought.

Complications dealt with and in anticipation of the debut release Anterior continued playing live, aided by a good friend stepping in on rhythm guitar and Luke stepping up solely as front man.
Support shows with As I Lay Dying, ‘Sanctity’, ‘3 Inches Of Blood’, ‘The Black Dahlia Murder’ and ‘The Ocean’, briskly followed.

“This Age Of Silence” was released worldwide on 12th June 2007.

While anterior continued to perform, positive reviews for the album poured in from online magazines such as; Room 13 and Power Play to legendary magazines such as; Kerrang, Metal Hammer and Rock Sound.
The album received vast critical acclaim.

With the album now available worldwide and the full time addition of lead guitarist Steven Nixon (formally of Mendeed) to Anterior, the band was again complete and raring to go as a fresh five piece line-up.

Anterior continued to play shows all over the UK during 2008 with the likes of ‘Devildriver,’ a slot at Ghostfest, a festival appearance in India, a European tour with ‘Himsa’, a UK tour as main support with death metal legends ‘Dying Fetus’ and as main support for ‘Children Of Bodom’ on their Download festival warm-up dates in Scotland and Ireland.

2009 touring schedules including a sold out UK tour with ‘All That Remains’ and ‘The Haunted’, a Metal Blade UK/Eire tour with label mates ‘The Rotted’ and ‘Malefice’, a festival appearance at the inaugural Bloodstock Open Air gave opportunity for Anterior to capitalize on their success.

Writing new material whilst suffering further line-up changes, Anterior successfully completed a headline UK tour in December which gained the band an amazing 9/10 Metal Hammer and a 4/5 Terrorizer magazine reviews.

Anterior confirmed James Cook, who had previously stepped in for the December 2009 headline tour, as their new full time drummer.

In 2010 the band took time out to recompose themselves and complete writing for their second album. The recording of which began in November, this time with Scott Atkins (Behemoth, Gamma Bomb, Cradle Of Filth, Sylosis) taking the role of producer at Grindstone studios.

Anterior are more energized, focused and sounding stronger than ever, with heavy touring and promotion scheduled for around the release of their as yet untitled second album, Anterior continue to strive regardless of past adversity to prove their worth as contenders for the title of Britain’s most unique Heavy Metal band and take their place as the act to look out for in 2011.
