Formed in 2002, Lothlöryen released in the following year a demo called "Thousand Ways to the Same Land", which was the first step to create the band's unique identity. Featuring eight songs, the cd received great reviews from national press and lead the band to be part of "Valhalla Demo Section", a compilation made by Valhalla Magazine (later RockHard / Valhalla Magazine) featuring the best brazilian independent bands. Due to the great response of the demo, Force Majeure Records inked a deal with Lothlöryen to release their debut album.
The band's debut album "...of Bards and Madmen" was released in 2005, leading the "crazy bards of brazilian metal" to be featured in "Best Band of the Year" lists made by magazines like Valhalla, ...And Heavy Metal For All, Roadie Crew and also the "Best Heavy Metal Album of the Year" by Dynamite Awards of Independent Music.
In 2008 the band releases their second album, "Some Ways Back No More," via Die Hard Records, one of the largest metal labels in Brazil.
