Alice in Chains guitarist Jerry Cantrell recently told Guitar World magazine that the grunge legends have finished recording their long-awaited fifth (and second reunion) album with producer Nick Raskulinecz and engineer Paul Figueroa. He states:

“In my opinion, that record stood up to anything else we’ve put out in our career, and this new one is right up there as well.”

The new Alice in Chains album is due for release sometime next year. This will be their first studio album since 2009’s Black Gives Way to Blue and their second one with singer William DuVall as the replacement of the late Layne Staley, who died of a drug overdose in 2002.
