Australian government gives large grant to local death metal band

Australian technical death metal band Ouroboros have reportedly received $20,000 in grant money from the Australian government.  The grant is from The Australia Council For The Arts which invests in Australian artists to make art for Australian and international audiences.  Between 2010 and 2011 they donated about $160 million to artists throughout Australia.

Australia Council music board  chairman and composer Matthew Hindson, who helped to approve the grant, recently said of Ouroborus:

“They have a degree of technical virtuosity and musicianship. No matter what kind of music you are involved in, that comes through.”

Ouroborus plan to use the money to write songs and hire a symphony orchestra for a new album.  Drummer David Horgan recently stated:

“This is amazing for us.  We couldn’t consider hiring an orchestra to do this without this kind of support.”

This band is actually a lot tighter than I expected so I threw a video in that you can check out by clicking here.
