Washington, D.C. has served as headquarters to some great music over the years, and with no exception enters A Sound of Thunder. Having formed in the D.C. area in 2008, the band finalized it’s line-up in 2010 and recorded/self released an EP (benefiting the West Memphis Three campaign) and a full length. The band plays their own take on a heavy classic rock sound with female vocals. A Sound of Thunder are starting off 2012 with a new album, Out of the Darkness, to be released on March 27 through Noise Creep Records. Head over to the band’s facebook page and give them a like.

Band Spotlight
Escuela Grind is one of the most intense AND fun bands out right now in the extreme metal scene. Anyone who has seen the outfit live knows they put on a careening and death-defying show, blending elements of many of the heaviest sub genres into a world changing charge. It has been awesome discovering truly fired up and creative acts such as them, Habak or Hostilities this year, giving me hope for the next generation of ass kickers. When I heard Indoctrination I was hooked and feel blessed Escuela Grind were one of the first bands I caught live when shows revved up again. Long may they reign.
