New Brunswick, NJ is widely known for being the home of Rutgers University and the land of Grease Trucks. When you dig a little deeper, you will find that the college town outside of the big city is a vibrant network of punk/metal houses and bands that are among some of the talented in today’s underground music scene.
Enter Death/Thrash metal outfit Dystrophy. Dystrophy, who play a chaotic blend of death metal, thrash metal and precise prog metal, have been melting faces in east coast clubs and basements since 2007. Their 2010 release Chains of Hypocrisy garnered them favorable reviews from metal critics and allowed them to do a small east coast tour the same year. They feature everything any death/thrash metal fan would want in a band: soaring duel guitars, driving drums and growling vocals. Check out their song Journey of Disbelief here from their recent split with fellow New Brunswick band, Dethroned Emperor.
