You wouldn’t expect a more prog oriented band like NYC’s Infinite Spectrum to tackle a morbid tale of H.P. Lovecraft, but that is precisely what the group has done on new thrilling effort Haunter Of The Dark. Despite not being gnarly, stoned and moss ridden like prominent Lovecraft lovers High On Fire, for example, Infinite Spectrum manage to capture the expansiveness of space, fear of the unknown and a dizzying sense of story in their lengthy compositions. “The Church” is particularly strong, sure to appeal to fans of The Final Frontier era Maiden’s wordy opuses or those who enjoy Dream Theater’s sense of unfolding composition. A lot to absorb but no terrain they seemingly can’t explore. Order HERE.
