Band Spotlight: Krieg

The name “Mocking Dead Empires” seems to also double as a good summary of Krieg lately, not just a song on the project’s new alternate mixes of EP and split material No Future but also in line with Neill Jameson’s ongoing tendency to debate the evolving standards of metal, what it means and what it is allowed to be. That said, chatter never stops the band from releasing one solid record after the other (the collab with The Body and Blue Miasma being just two great random places for newbies to perhaps start), like wearily trudging through the snow but too dedicated or masochistic to stop. Selectively respectful of the past yet with a healthy modern skepticism for  questionable motives or imposed limitations. Not afraid to take shit or fling it but never at the expense of the music as a primary focus. Very cool in an inauthentic age.
