Jon Davis, Conan guitarist and vocalist, commented on their Cover Art Battle win: “The cover to Monnos was created by Tony Roberts ( and suits the mood of the songs perfectly i.e. heavy but accessible, dark but triumphant. I cannot comment on how Tony was inspired to create what he did but I can say we feed off Tony’s work in our writing as much as our writing contributes to Tony’s work. Tony is a great artist, and we consider him to be part of the band as we believe his artwork is an integral part of us. I believe that the act of listening to music is enhanced by looking at the artwork and when the artwork suits the mood of the music such as the artwork on Monnos it really helps to create the mood. When I’m writing riffs or writing lyrics I think about Tony’s work and it gives me ideas – the work Tony did on Monnos has given rise to some very cool ideas for our new album.

“Winning this cover art battle gives credit to Tony Roberts. To be up against bands such as Testament and Samothrace makes it cool on a musical level but this is all about the artwork, the skill and commitment that goes into creating unique and otherworldy designs so we’d like to say thanks to Tony for sticking with us and creating what he creates.”
