Hear GLOBELAMP and Chris Cheveyo (ex- ROSE WINDOWS) cover PINK FLOYD today

Posted by Metal Riot on Friday, December 4, 2020 at 8:58 AM (PST)

A lot of big music news today, from a Tribulation line-up shake up to a new Greta Van Fleet album pre order and Gemini Syndrome fresh material, Terminal Bliss signing to Relapse in a promising pairing and so much more.  On this rainy day off I am listening to Moonspell’s melodic and shadowy “Incantatrix” from the brilliant and catchy yet even more underground and gothic Omega White material , a somewhat secret and cult release from Portugal’s finest gloom wolf poets.

That all mentioned, it is also the last Bandcamp Friday of 2020 and we wanted to bring attention to a special collab for all you fans of Pink Floyd out there. Yes, it is not metal. We know however that most metal heads have mad love for one of the most compelling and insanity navigating acts out there in classic rock history. Follow the link below for a compelling quarantine made DIY trippy cover of “Brain Damage” by psych folker Elizabeth Gomez aka GLOBELAMP. She has enlisted the very talented Chris Cheveyo of ROSE WINDOWS fame on guitar for some of the classic parts. It amounts to a thrilling pairing of masterful and darkly beautiful psych folk. The two know one another from the PNW music scene.

“I am a big fan of Syd Barrett and this song – often called “Lunatic” early on – alludes to the struggles he faced,” says Gomez.  “I am into wordplay and it is a clever way of drawing a connection between the moon and lunacy, using the cycles of the moon as a reference to feeling crazy. It is smart how the song was not called Dark Side Of The Moon, which you think might be the song title.”
