Hi friends. How was your weekend? Other than my girlfriend absurdly seemingly getting accused of ongoing attempted murder (“was trying to kill me and isn’t done”) and other untrue things through the official Foxygen Twitter account and then it getting deleted – but we got a screen shot-, mine was nice. By the way she actually is just covering Taylor Swift songs to her YouTube Channel followers and moved to the other side of the country as the guy, if the truth matters to anyone.
But yeah, I got to briefly meet jazz guitarist Mike Demicco on the street the other night, which was very cool. I also saw lots of friends at a Kyle & The Pity Party, Tins, Globelamp show and had a great night of inspired indie rock and also worked the door at a New World Home Cooking pop up party at a regional cocktail bar. Chef Ric Orlando has won Chopped! multiple times and it was rad to catch up with him and get to eat some of his spicy blackened green beans that all Woodstockers know, love and miss since his restaurant moved out of town towards the capitol district. Ric fired me once when I was like 16 as a prep cook at his original location for catching me trying to dry off a salad I had accidentally dumped steam rack cup water onto when I was high, hahaha.
But now it is time to talk metal!
Lizzy Borden’s new material is so gnarly, catchy, glampiric and rockin’ hard rock with all the right elements to lodge in your skull like a sonic hatchet. This record is gonna be amazing! Everything I have heard so far sounds HUGE, cosmic and rock n roll! Kudos to the people involved, fuck yeah!
A new song is out todat called “The Scar Across My Heart” and I am wishing big time they would tour with Andrew WK and The 69 Eyes right now! Can we make this happen?!
Lizzy Borden comments: “With ‘The Scar Across My Heart,’ I wanted to explore those kinds of relationships that tattoo your soul. You’re forever linked to this person, even though it can never be for one reason or another. ‘We bury all our yesterdays and try and drink these scars away’ – I’m talking about a no-hope situation, a never-meant-to-be situation, but I’m still singing ‘We’re gonna make it now.’ I’m always looking for that human reaction no matter how delusional or unrealistic.”
June 15th will see the release of My Midnight Things via Metal Blade Records, which can be pre-ordered at metalblade.com/lizzyborden \m/
