I realized in horror that while we have way too many posts about seriously subpar metalcore bands, no one had any posts about the best band ever, The Melvins. Let me ammend that error and simultaneously increase the coolness of our humble metal domain tenfold by announcing the upcoming release of an unorthodox covers album from the “Godfathers of Grunge” entitled… Everybody Loves Sausages.
Melvins and cover songs usually equals genius. Their versions of “God Of Thunder” by Kiss, “Youth Of America” by The Wipers and of course, their infamous version of “Smells Like Teen Spirit” with none other than Leif Garrett on vocals are the stuff of legend.
Now, fans can wet their whistles on this collection (out April 30th on Ipecac), which is probably worth it for the Melvins/Scott Kelly team up on Venom’s “Warhead” alone. Personally, I am really excited and scared to hear them cover “Best Friend” by Queen with the dude from Tweak Bird. I need some strong LSD. Other guests include Jello Biafra, Mark Arm and many more.
King Buzzo says: “This record will give people a peak into the kind of things that influence us musically. We REALLY like all of these songs along with the bands who actually wrote this stuff because first and foremost we are HUGE music fans.”
