Memphis May Fire are premiering an acoustic version of fan favorite “Beneath The Skin” today on Youtube. The track is one of 4 bonus tracks that appear on the upcoming Deluxe Edition of the band’s latest LP ‘Unconditional’, which will be released this Friday. In addition to the acoustic version of “Beneath The Skin,” the LP features the new tracks “My Generation”, “Stay The Course” and an acoustic version of “Need To Be.” The music video for “Stay The Course” can be viewed here. Guitarist Kellen McGregor says, “It’s always enjoyable to reimagine songs acoustically as we’re primarily a band that writes heavy music with a lot of riffing. ‘Need To Be’ made sense to choose considering it’s already a softer track from “Unconditional” & lends itself nicely to an acoustic interpretation. Reworking ‘Beneath The Skin’ was a fun challenge due to its heavier nature, but the process was very rewarding & it turned out more amazing than we could have possibly imagined.” The Deluxe Edition was remixed & remastered by Brian Hood (Being As An Ocean, Sworn In) at 456 Recordings. |

Band Spotlight
There are some bands more adept at riding the chaos than others in the storied history of underground music. From noise and hardcore pioneers like Steel Pole Bathtub to Man Is The Bastard to synth/indie/post-core bands like Six Finger Satellite to numerous grindcore bands like Fuck The Facts, etc.- some groups just embody the concept of "fuck it/let's really go for it" more than others. NY's Black Mesa sits proudly in that same spirit of frenzy and ferocious inventiveness, as evidenced by their recent compilation of insanely manic live performances. Whatever sub genre they throw in the emotional blender, you are bound to enjoy a deliciously nutritious smoothie of muddy sonic punk purée.
