New Music: High On Fire – “Fertile Green”

The awesomely amazing California based doom metal band High On Fire are streaming the first single called “Fertile Green” from their upcoming album De Vermis Mysteriis. The album is due out April 3, 2012 via E1 and is named after a fictional book created by Robert Bloch and made famous by writer H.P. Lovecraft  and apparently is something like “a Jesus twin who can see the past through his ancestors’ eyes.”

Vocalist/guitarist Matt Pike has also stated:

“I got this idea about Jesus Christ and the Immaculate Conception: What if Jesus had a twin who died at birth to give Jesus his life? And then what if the twin became a time traveler right then?” If you pay attention, you’ll run into “an ancient Chinese alchemist who derived a serum out of the black lotus,”

Sounds amazing.  To hear “Fertile Green” click here.
