California rockers Avenged Sevenfold have released their latest video, “So Far Away”. This video is a raw and emotional tribute to Avenged Sevenfold’s late drummer Jimmy “The Rev” Sullivan and celebrates the long-time friendship the band members have shared since forming A7X in Huntington Beach, CA, in 1999. The video was directed by Wayne Isham, who has directed videos for such artists as Metallica, Mötley Crüe, Megadeth, and Def Leppard, among many others. The heartfelt quality of the video is in keeping with the emotional resonance of the song, a very personal goodbye to Sullivan that appears on the band’s album Nightmare. Watch it now right here.
James “The Rev” Sullivan was found dead at his home on December 28th, 2009 at the age of 28. Initially the cause of death was inconclusive, but on June 9, 2010, his death was said to have been caused by “acute polydrug intoxication due to combined effects of Oxycodone, Oxymorphone, Diazepam/Nordiazepam and ethanol”. In a statement by the band, they expressed their grief over the passing of The Rev and asked that his family’s privacy be respected and on the band’s official website Sullivan’s family left a message expressing their gratitude to his fans for their support.
