I am devastated to hear the news that Chuck Mosley (of Faith No More, Bad Brains, Cement fame, etc.) has died. I am so sad. I almost opened for him a few months ago but was still dealing with anxiety about coming out to my community as trans and so I gave up the slot to another band, but I did interview him for my local paper HERE.
He was a poetic and super creative lyricist who paved the way for a lot of the alternative movement.
I have a LOT more of my talk with him I didn’t transcribe yet cuz I didn’t have enough word count. I will wait a respectful amount of time and then publish some on Metal Riot in the coming weeks. He told me some great stuff about why he styled his hair the famous way he did.
Chuck recently was on the new Primitive Race record which comes out THIS month.
So glad I got to meet him in person briefly and become friends and also get to see him and Doc from Bad Brains reunite in person that same night. Doc arrived at Chuck’s show at The Anchor in Kingston as I was talking to Chuck and I got to see them hug. Chuck’s energy telling stories was so infectious and he gave me almost 2 hours of his time when I interviewed him. Very grateful for the experience. He really seemed so excited to be making lots of new music and he will be very missed by the music community. RIP.
We’d like to share our cover of “We Care A Lot” by Faith No More, in honor and memory of Chuck Mosley. Rest In Peace… ? pic.twitter.com/0yQK2sg8V0
