Jimmy Bain epitomized the solid metal bass player, supporting the band, capable of flourish yet above all holding a rock bottom groove as the bedrock between any tune he played on. In this capacity, much like Michael Anthony in VH glory days, Bain was a Godsend. His contributions to metal can never be repaid, from writing credits on “Rainbow In The Dark” to Hear N’ Aid to the classic as fuck Rising album toeven working with Phil Lynott (and almost playing on a Scorpions album, if I recall).
In issue 4 of Kerrang! magazine, Rising was voted the greatest heavy metal album of all time, and that’s just ONE of Bain’s unforgettable contributions.
Blabbermouth has a good, full piece on Bain HERE. \m/
