Lancaster up-and-comers This or the Apocalypse are currently touring Europe, but have taken a small break to release a video for the track “Subverse.” The song comes off of last year’s Haunt What’s Left record, a big lift from their 2008 debut Monument, much in part to their work with Lamb of God‘s Chris Adler.
Both album’s were released on Lifeforce Records and had minor critical success.
Lead singer Rick Armellino spoke about the new song with Noisecreep.com:
“The song has a lot to do with the wars and me struggling with my own identity. I’m a 24-year-old American, and I’ve only seen only the worst out of my country. Failed wars with no justification, millions of confirmed kills, military contractors making massive profits, and the complete disconnection that many people my age have with the idea of being ‘American.’ We’re the children of the Internet and I think most of us could honestly care less about borders, nations, or the flag at that. We’ve been lied to endlessly, and I can get online to chat with a guy from Pakistan or Brazil as if they were my next door neighbor. So when someone talks about liberty I just close my ears and go back to my own thoughts.”
