Welcome to Tuesday’s Titanic Treasonous Tidbits. I am not talking about Jack and Rose or even Conald here, but awesome rock n roll news you need in order to live a fuller, richer life. Today we have some groovy spooky post punk, some CKY hard rock action and a little Warped Tour related band of interest for you ghouls. It isn’t our heaviest of posts, but it still rocks with the most.

Ok, first up is just a heads up that post punk artistes Wax Idols return to the road today in support of newest opus Happy Ending This band deserves stans to flicker about them in awe (while dramatic music plays) like the little cave bats enveloping Christian Bale. They are not metal but we have a punk category in our drop down menu and the band’s unflinching attitude, uncompromising vision, miles of style and ability to blend gallow’s humor with an actual desire for things to be better out there is punk af in our book.

Hard rock hesher heroes CKY (Chad I Ginsburg, Jess Margera and Matt Deis) have released a brand new music video for their track, “Wiping Off The Dead” from their most recent LP,The Phoenix. Directed by Dave Causa, this is the third music video we’ve seen from the band off their current release.

“Our good friend Dave Causa filmed us rehearsing for our UK tour last summer and the end result was us making a badass music video,” says drummer Jess Margera. “It was filmed before we ever played a single show for the release of our album. Thank you, Dave, and thank you CKY alliance! Enjoy this great video from the archives.”

CKY is headed back out on the road this summer on a co-headlining run with SLAVES and additional support coming from the incredible Royal Thunder and the buzz building Awaken I Am. Tickets and a limited number of VIP meet and greet packages are available now. VIP packages will include meet and greets, exclusive merch items, autographs and more. The band will also be doing highlighted performances on select festival dates such as Lollapalooza, Sturgis bike rally, Psycho Las Vegas, and Blue Ridge Rockfest!

CKY released The Phoenix last summer via Entertainment One (eOne). The all-new LP is the first release since the band put out Carver City in 2009. The album was engineered and mixed at Rancho De La Luna, the highly regarded recording studio in Joshua Tree, CA.

Toronto-based alternative rock band SELFISH THINGS have released a video for their song “Hangman,” a cut from their EP Vertical Love which was released earlier this year The video was released HERE, and can be watched below:

When asked about the video, frontman Alex Biro said that “We were a month and a half into tour (hence me looking so fucking tired) and ended up driving back to Cleveland after our show in Columbus to knock out the video. The director and his team had scouted a pretty desolate, blown out, old tire factory in a particularly rundown part of the city, which really fit well aesthetically with the overall concept of the song. We wanted to focus on iconographic elements that amplified the message while still trying play to the lyrics (the hanging hearts, for example). I hope people enjoy it more than I did making it – don’t sit in a coffin with nightcrawler’s.”

Keep up the sweet jams, dudes. I love the chunky guitar tones, emo-esque hooks and the group’s give it your all energy. The vocals remind me of Blink and The Sleeping kind of eloping with Taking Back Sunday.

The release of the “Hangman”  video comes right before a busy touring schedule for the band kicks off this summer. In addition to supporting The Spill Canvas from July 26-August 11, they will also be playing Warped Tour July 17 at The Flats at Budweiser Stage on The Lemmon Stage.

Friday Funeral Flowers: Manticora , Black Fast

Posted by Morgan Ywain Evans on Thursday, July 5, 2018 at 7:31 PM (PST)

To Kill To Live To Kill – Official Manticora Cover. By David Troest

Feeling pretty impressed with the new Manticora “Echoes Of A Silent Scream” video. It doesn’t look super high budget but they did a good job and the music is technically skillful and just enraged enough. The video gives me recollections of Sin City‘s Kevin who Elijah Wood embodied so creepily. So yeah, add a samurai sword and this is not for the faint of heart.

August 3rd 2018 sees the release of Manticora’s To Kill To Live To Kill.  Recorded and mixed by Jacob Hansen (Volbeat, Destruction, Persefone etc.), the record gives me Nevermore vibes in a really good way. It is their first new album in 8 years and you can tell the group worked super hard on it, so don’t sleep! The songs are even tied into a graphic horror novel  was written by the lead singer, Lars F. Larsen, and the artwork resembles the stories of the novel. This is the first part of a concept double-album, that will be released as two separate albums, one year apart.

Manticora have released 7 critically acclaimed albums, since 1999, and toured numerous times around Europe as well as in the US + played at prestigious festivals, such as Wacken Open Air, Sweden Rock Festival, ProgPower USA, etc.

St. Louis’ thrashers Black Fast have released a third new single titled “Husk” exclusively via Revolver Magazine. “Husk was the last song to come together just as we started recording this album,” says the band. “It’s a little different from the rest of the songs and we knew right away it had to be the closer. Plus, it has a fucking slide solo.”

Check it out HERE. That solo is EPIC!!! It’s nice to see the band fighting their way forward.

The band will release Spectre of Ruin on Friday, July 13, 2018, via Entertainment One (eOne) and have once again worked with the mighty Erik Rutan (Hell Eternal, Agnostic Front, Morbid Angel). So far what I have heard is scorching and the vocals sound like a howling skeleton ripping up from the ground. This shit will def make people give them more respect for having a bit more longevity and adding a lot of impressive new material to their growing batch of already dope songs to pull from.

Skyharbor release “Dim” music video

Posted by longhairedpoet on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at 10:27 AM (PST)

New Delhi metallers Skyharbor have released their latest music video for their song “Dim.”

“Dim” comes off the band’s forthcoming album Sunshine Dust, which is due out on September 7 via EntertainmentOne

The music video was directed by Tom Flynn and Mike Watts.

About the music video Guitarist Keshav Dhar had this to say, “We’re stoked to present our music video for ‘Dim.’ It was an amazing experience filming a video together for the first time as a band, and we hope you all enjoy it as much as we did making it!”

Dhar adds about the album, “It’s taken almost four years and it’s been a real labor of love, but we’re thrilled to finally get this record out there to our fans. We’re incredibly stoked on these songs and have really dug in deep to explore and represent what we truly feel is the Skyharbor sound.”

Vocalist Eric Emery says about “Dim”: “’Dim’ is one of my favorite songs on the record and I can’t wait to share the video with everyone. Thematically, the song alludes to the volatile current political climate in the US, as well as exploring what our potential future could look like should we continue down this road.“

Check out the video for “Dim” as well as the cover art and tracklist for Sunshine Dust here.

He adds, “We’re bringing Royal Thunder and Awaken I Am along for the ride. As a person and performer, I was and still am driven by the thought that we still had something to prove and strive to change people’s minds about who and what they think we are or were. – Morgan Lander

Kittie were always more than some nu metal female novelty act as they were originally crassly marketed. The group’s ongoing story has not been properly told until now, a twisting road that found the band in various line-ups kicking ass and taking names, overcoming sexist hurdles, conquering venues big and small and winning the hearts of thousands. Not every band can say they have six albums and several million record sales and still be as uncompromisingly heavy as Kittie have been over their career.

A long gestating documentary is arriving on March 30 via Lightyear Entertainment in North America to celebrate the band’s career and impact. The three-disc set, which was directed by Rob McCallum, includes a Blu-ray and DVD of the documentary as well as a new live album on CD.

Morgan Lander, the bands fierce yet friendly front woman, took some time to answer questions from myself and Elizabeth Le Fey (Globelamp) about Kittie’s role in making metal more inclusive, special moments along the way and much more.

Celebrate 20 years of KITTIE with a documentary and new live album

Posted by Morgan Ywain Evans on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at 10:09 AM (PST)

KITTIE have always been way cooler and more important than some snobs gave them credit for and I remain a real fan. A long gestating documentary is arriving on March 30 via Lightyear Entertainment in North America to celebrate the band’s career and impact. The three-disc set, which was directed by Rob McCallum, includes a Blu-ray and DVD of the documentary as well as a new live album on CD. Check out a ripping new trailer HERE.

Press Release:

How many people do you know that accomplished something that effectively CHANGED LIVES while they were in HIGH SCHOOL?

Our friends Morgan and Mercedes Lander didn’t intend to become Heavy Metal Feminist Icons in their teens, but that is exactly what they have become.

They held their own with some of the biggest metal bands in the genre and made music as brutal as any of their male counterparts. They were RIAA certified gold and have sold MILLIONS of records since their debut 20 years ago. With plays in the millions on YouTube and Spotify, the band is even more relevant today, due to the international dialogue about women in entertainment.

The 3-Disc Set (DVD, Blu Ray and CD) is due out on 3/30/2018.  Also, look out for a 12″ record of the audio portion of the release in the coming months.

Black Fast enter Mana Studios

Posted by Morgan Ywain Evans on Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at 2:42 PM (PST)

St. Louis metal outfit BLACK FAST will enter Mana Studios in St. Petersburg, FL this week with veteran producer Erik Rutan to begin work on an all-new LP for Entertainment One (eOne). Known for his work with HATE ETERNALSIX FEET UNDERGOATWHORE and CANNIBAL CORPSE, Rutan was an easy choice for the band to produce their widely successful eOne debut Terms of Surrender. Citing the positive rapport between him and the band, Erik is very excited about working with Black Fast once again.

“We are super excited to produce the new Black Fast album,” Rutan says. “We had such a great experience working together on the recording of ‘Terms of Surrender’ and I know that we will step it up a notch in this next production. There is a certain chemistry that happens when as a producer you get to work with bands on multiple records and when everyone is on the same page like we are, fantastic things happen. Black Fast is such a unique band of incredible musicians and great people. I cannot wait to get to work with the guys again, capture their raging sound and stellar performances in the best way I know how! May the metal commence!”

Terms of Surrender, the band’s ferocious and thrashing eOne debut, is also now available on vinyl for the first time on the band’s official online store.

BLACK FAST is proud to share that they have recently joined the D’Addario and Co.family. Aaron Akin says, “We won’t play anything else since we found the NYXL brand. They are the loudest, clearest, strongest and most balanced strings out there. They are the only strings we use on the road or in the studio. D’Addario rips!” Black Fast shreds with D’Addario NYXL-1046 and Evans Drumheads. You can find their artist page here.

Haha. But in all seriousness, Hatebreed are back with a new video for “Seven Enemies”. Check it out below. It is particularly Hatebreedy, so turn it up and get reminded what dedication to hardcore means.

Guitar icon Zakk Wylde will release Book Of Shadows II on April 8th, 2016 via Entertainment One Music (eOne Music), his first solo release in 20 years. This release is the highly anticipated follow up to 1996’s Book of Shadows LP, a classic album Wylde released between his work with Ozzy Osbourne that has since become a fan favorite. Book Of Shadows II was recently named as one of the “Most Anticipated Metal Releases of 2016” via Rollingstone.com.

Wylde has been feverishly working on new material since he wrapped up Black Label Society’s “Unblackened” spring tour last year. All songs on Book of Shadows II were recorded and produced at Wylde’s legendary home studio, The Black Vatican, which produced several of Wylde’s recent releases. The new effort will be followed by a wave of tour dates in support to be announced soon.

Zakk Wylde is no stranger to showing the lighter, introspective side of his music, having previously released two Black Label Society albums of stripped down material. The Song Remains Not the Same was released in 2011 which included acoustic versions of songs originally released on Order of the Black and 2013’s Unblackened, a live acoustic album that was recorded live at Club Nokia in Los Angeles.

Zakk will also be in full participation in this year’s NAMM Convention taking place at The Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, CA January 21-24. Zakk’s newly minted line of Guitars known as Wylde Audio will be on full display in Room 210-D and will be signing from 3pm – 5pm on Friday Jan 22. ZAKK SABBATH, a side project featuring guitarist/vocalist Wylde, bassist Blasko (OZZY OSBOURNE, ROB ZOMBIE) and drummer Joey Castillo (DANZIG, QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE) performing only BLACK SABBATH SONGS will be playing at The Grove of Anaheim Saturday January 23rd.
