Agonia Records, one of our favorite extreme labels around here, are working with the Greek band Lucifer’s Child. If you haven’t heard of them the group consists of vocalist Marios Dupont (Karma Violens) and drummer Nick Vell (Chaostar), George Emmanuel (ex-Chaostar), Stathis Ridis (a member of another long-running Hellenic metal unit, Nightfall).

Now they’ve released new single “The Order” in the form of a music video directed by George Koimisis and the band themselves. It’s the title track from the band’s fothrcoming album, set to be released on November 9th via Agonia Records. Watch the video HERE.

Demonical announce three-country European tour with Lik, Of Fire

Posted by Morgan Ywain Evans on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at 2:55 PM (PST)

Swedish death metal act DEMONICAL have teamed up with their countrymen Lik (Stockholm-based death metal) for a tour of Europe including Poland, Germany and Czech Republic this November. The band will hit the road in support of their fifth studio album “Chaos Manifesto”, released in March on Agonia Records. The opening act will be Of Fire, a death ‘n’ roll  performer also from Sweden.

The new album from the band deserves more attention. So much good stuff has come out this year, but this is not one to miss. I am particularly fond of “Towards Greater Gods”, a full bore upper mid tempo thrill ride of all the things that make this band great.

DEMONICAL commented: “We are very much looking forward to November and our return to mainland Europe under the “Carnage Manifesto” banner. As we will be joined by our Swedish brothers in LIK and OF FIRE this tour-package will be something special, a total slap of Stockholm-style old-school death metal and a wet dream for every worshipper of the buzzsaw HM-2 sound! Death metal darkness prevails… and then some!”.

DEMONICAL + LIK + OF FIRE – Carnage Manifesto tour 2018
06.11 PL Poznan, Klub U Bazyla
07.11 CZ Praha, Modra Vopice
08.11 DE Mannheim, MS Connexion Complex
09.11 DE Bitterfeld, Festung

Arsis rage forth with ‘Tricking The Gods’ music video

Posted by Morgan Ywain Evans on Sunday, September 9, 2018 at 3:12 PM (PST)

Tech death tyrants Arsis have thankfully returned this year with Visitant, a much anticipated new release out in Nov. from the consistently dope labels Agonia Records and Nuclear Blast. The new video for ‘Tricking The Gods’ has some Satan invades star trek borderline moments, but is that a bad thing? Hell no.

Love the lead tones (is that a George Lynch tiger spirit infused guitar or what?) and psycho-charged arrangement in this tune, powered by some serious chops and guttural evil from James Malone. Expect this record should make quite a big red splash. This band always seemed more sincere about their craft than some others, so I am looking forward to this. My punk friends Nightmares For A Week also have an album out this late 2018 which , like Arsis, marks 5 years between releases and y’know, sometimes it really is worth the wait for career milestone material. Kudos to all.

“We had a pretty strong touring cycle for the last album, Unwelcome,” says Malone. “Then, I got involved in Necromancing the Stone. It wasn’t taking up too much time since I wasn’t the main songwriter. It was more of a fun outlet for me, a chance for me to get on stage and play without having to do both guitar and vocals. I didn’t expect Necromancing the Stone to get signed and to go on tour, but all of that ended up happening. That took time obviously, but then Brandon [Ellis] ended up joining The Black Dahlia Murder. It took me awhile to get my wits about me to the point where I wanted to concentrate on a new Arsis record. The time it took to regroup was very much needed.”

Majestic Phenomenon: Cast The Stone, Euringer, Black Tusk news

Posted by Morgan Ywain Evans on Monday, August 13, 2018 at 3:24 PM (PST)

Little Jimmy got lost in the arcade on the way to New Zealand!

Hey y’all. Monday blues here and am thankful for the good stuff in life but also feeling a little burnt out and it is only the first day of the week. Man, been watching The 100 and I am about ready to take the chip and join A.L.I.E.’S Cult.

Before we head to the City Of Light y’all we gotta get deep into some cray cray music news.

Cast The Stone (Misery Index, ex-Cattle Decapitation, Scour) have released the “A Plague Of Light” lyric video. The song is taken from the new album Empyrean Atrophy. This and some more new Void Ritual (we’re not worthy!) oughta be enough to shake out or encourage all the demons you need to deal with to kick start your week or the Apocalypse. Everything from this release has been monstrously ass crushing so far and we are here for it!

Mindless Self Indulgence ringmaster Jimmy Urine is a great dude. He’s always been very cool in person and a fun guy to talk to or of course see demolish a crowd. The satirical yet actually deeper than you would think on the surface message of MSI is sorely needed in the current climate of lack of critical thinking out there. Now Jimmy is back with a new record under the name EURINGER. The record is due Oct. 19th via the great Metropolis Records and features guest spots from Grimes, Gerard Way, Serj Tankian and Chantel Claret. Jimmy even finds time to cover Kate Bush and The Doobie Brothers. Doobies…underrated style icons. And Kate! Jimmy, have you been reading my mind? I was just super stoned and driving Globelamp’s car last night listening to “Wuthering Heights” at 11pm trying to remember to auto deposit a check to go pay my storage space bill. Probably a coincidence.

”Mathematically speaking I am breaking time into pieces of distance and moving through them diagonally at a rapid rate,” says Jimmy. “Naaaahh, I am just fucking with you. I just drank a whole bottle of Southern Comfort and wrote this album. A hallucination, a proclamation, a degradation? Or maybe its all just all a pile of bullshit I made up to stay relevant. Either way, I am right behind you.“

The surviving heroes of Black Tusk have a new record and even deeper sense of purpose. The Savannah riff pirates are streaming another new track off their forthcoming album ‘T.C.B.T.’ The ripper titled “Closed Eye” is streaming now via Blabbermouth.

BLACK TUSK have kicked off their previously announced North American headline tour. The first ‘TCBT’ dates includes stops at Heavy Mountain Festival, RPM Fest, and more. BLACK TUSK are joined by WHORES and WHITE NAILS on select dates. A full list of confirmed shows can be found below.

Cast The Stone prepare to release ‘Empyrean Atrophy’ EP

Posted by longhairedpoet on Monday, June 4, 2018 at 2:21 AM (PST)

St. Louis metallers Cast The Stone are preparing to release their latest EP Empyrean Atrophy.

Empyrean Atrophy will be released on August 31 via Agonia Records.

Cast The Stone is Mark Kloeppel (Misery Index, Scour), Derek Engemann (ex-Cattle Decapitation, Scour), Jesse Schobel (Legend, ex-Scour) and vocalist Andy Huskey.

The cover art for Empyrean Atrophy was done by Gary Ronaldson of Bite Radius Designs (Primordial, Kreator, Napalm Death).

Guitarist Mark Kloeppel commented:

“The band’s sound is a testament to an enduring spirit thats driven us to return to our most organic influences, merge them together, incorporate disparate elements, and forge our own sound. Each person has a distinct sound unto themselves, so it’s really cool how smooth and cohesive this stuff comes across. You can immediately hear how different this is from the other things we’ve been involved in, yet it’s still very true to our individual styles. Our bassist Derek progressively weaves my guitars and Jesse’s uber-creative drumming style together in a way that only he can. This is all crowned off by Andy Huskey’s crazy death metal vocals which are… well, just listen.”

The first single for Empyrean Atrophy is due June 7.

Check out the tracklist for Empyrean Atrophy here.

You can order the bruising new futuristic groove metal album from Agonia HERE in lots of format options  (we’re kinda digging the lifesaver looking red and blue vinyl). Forgotten Tomb’s 360 video for new song ‘Second Chances’

Posted by Morgan Ywain Evans on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at 12:33 PM (PST)

Another new Forgotten Tomb song, this one an 8 minute inspired dirge called “Second Chances”, is now online. The  new song is from their upcoming studio album We Owe You Nothing, due out on October 27th in Europe and November 10th in North America via Agonia Records.

FORGOTTEN TOMB commented: “Our discography has always been divided by trilogies. ‘We Owe You Nothing’ closes the third trilogy which started with ‘…And Don’t Deliver Us From Evil’ followed by ‘Hurt Yourself And The Ones You Love’ and it’s the heaviest among the 3 albums, with an emphasis on slower/mid tempos and a sludgier approach while retaining also our trademark melodies and dissonant arpeggios, plus some twists which open new doors to the next era of the band. Due to circumstances surrounding it, it’s been an extremely painful album to make and therefore it’s one of our darkest, while being also filled with raw energy”.

King Parrot announce UK headliner

Posted by Morgan Ywain Evans on Friday, September 29, 2017 at 1:00 PM (PST)

Was listening to Locrian’s bleakly comforting “The Future Of Death” when some fresh thrashy news hit my inbox. The UK is cooler than we are in America and thus Australian rage-a-holics King Parrot can probably do a better proper headliner there. Let’s face it, a lot of Americans listen to hot garbage when not believing steaming horseshit.

“We’re excited to announce a headlining UK tour this November, in support of our new album, Ugly Produce”, states KING PARROT’s vocalist, Matt Young. The Australian thrash metal / grindcore band offered a positive update after the cancellation of their autumn European tour with Decapitated. KING PARROT will start the tour in Norwich, UK, on November 7th, shortly after the completion of their ongoing North American run with Superjoint and Devildriver.

Threat Signal deliver forceful new single “Exit The Matrix”

Posted by Morgan Ywain Evans on Thursday, September 14, 2017 at 4:45 PM (PST)

Threat Signal have returned with some long awaited new music. “Exit The Matrix” is the first taste of Disconnect (pre order HERE now!), due out on November 10th worldwide via Agonia Records. Def cool to hear their sound again and there is even a little more progressive edge to the bridge and solo section that were a cool surprise. Not feeling the cleans on this one as much as some of the older stuff, but Jon Howard remains an in charge force on the screams nonetheless. I really do think if Linkin Park moves forward he is literally the only ideal choice for the job.

Anyway, I am gonna go back to enjoying the last few episodes of American Gods that I need to catch up on but this Threat Signal news was absolutely welcome energy that a lot of us were waiting for! Great to have them back.

THREAT SIGNAL – Exit The Matrix (Official Lyric Video)

NEW SONG PREMIERE! Listen to the first single from our long-awaited fourth studio album, "Disconnect", due out on November 10th worldwide via Agonia Records. To say its been a tough ride would be an understatement, but as the shit piles on, we'll keep shovelling that shit off!! So we began writing this album back in 2012, and continued writing over the next 3 years until we were able to hit the studio again. Basically our thought process while writing was to not have an end goal of what the album should sound like. We didn't plan to make a really heavy album, or a melodic album, or take anyone else's input on what we should sound like. We basically just wrote songs with a clear and open mindset until Disconnect grew together. This album ranges from melodic metal, to hard rock, to thrash metal, and even down to a chill acoustic tune, its a roller coaster of a ride while staying true to the Threat Signal sound. You will feel the energy from all of our previous albums plus something new. A big thanks to Agonia records for believing in us and finally getting this album released. Also a HUGE thanks to the fans for sticking with us over the years. I'd like to dedicate our album Disconnect to my fallen friend and former Threat Signal drummer Norm Killeen. May you be jamming with the best of them in the next life!!! Peace and love"."Disconnect" was recorded and produced by Jon Howard and lead guitarist Travis Montgomery. Mixing and mastering were done by Mark Lewis (DevilDriver, Whitechapel, Battlecross, Coal Chamber). Artwork for the album was created by Ludovic Cordelieres of Rusalkadesign (Kamelot).Tracklist:1. Forgotten Tomb premiere new song “We Owe You Nothing”

Posted by Morgan Ywain Evans on Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at 7:34 PM (PST)

“We Owe You Nothing”, the ninth studio album from Italian black/doom metal overlords FORGOTTEN TOMB, is set to be released on October 27th in Europe and November 10th in North America via Agonia Records. What a perfect way to start an early Halloween killing spree!

The new album’s title track & first single can be heard below. It’s got a sleazy sort of big rock element and swagger that sounds almost like the grim bastards are enjoying themselves, haha. Nonetheless, after the song’s intro the track shifts into monstrously huge and heavy groove metal that almost sounds like Deathless-era Throwdown with John Tardy doing black metal vocals!  Whuuuuuuttt?!!! That sounds fucking insane on paper and it is certainly different but undeniably crushing and the guitar tones are fucking dominant and gigantic. I have never wanted to ignorantly pit start to Forgotten Tomb more than wanting to die alone in a bath tub listening to them (in a good way – my fave is still the very emotionally barren Springtime Depression), but there is a first time for everything! If you are looking for straight up black metal though, seems like that ship has more than sailed.

Much like being a long term fan of Aborym, Darkthrone or Enslaved, if you can stop demanding what this band is ‘supposed’ to be, you might just enjoy where they are at now. This is undeniably metal to the core and has some very cool passages.

King Parrot and Metal Hammer UK want you to “Disgrace Yourself”

Posted by Morgan Ywain Evans on Thursday, August 31, 2017 at 5:03 PM (PST)

King Parrot‘s Ugly Produce reminds me of some of the glorious tomfoolery of my bygone teenage years. You could see a Garbage Pail Kid card or a skanky Ugly Kid Joe sleeveless t-shirt and know whoever it belonged to was a “bad kid” and soon you would be hanging out with them and snorting Tang or shooting home made potato cannons at cop cars from the treeline by the road near school (I mean, hypothetically). The design aesthetic of their new amazingly titled Ugly Produce album, the new thrash album of choice for ugly ducklings everywhere, is certain to be iconic i years to come – if first mainly for those entrepreneurs who smoke weed out of home made apple pipes.

Seriously, if you find fault with this band for some reason you are probably a dick. It is like not liking Municipal Waste or 3 Inches Of Blood, just a loser position to take. They combine amazing metallic punk tinged anthems with comedy gold and a serious touring drive and are friggin’ Australian.

The Ugly Produce album is set to be released on September 22nd via Agonia Records in Europe (Housecore Records in North America and Rocket/EVP in Australia). Listen to their frenzied latest track “Disgrace Yourself” at this link:

http://teamrock.com/news/2017-08-31/king-parrot-release-new-song-disgrace-yourself

After recording the previous album in the US, 2017 saw the band head back home to where it all began – recording their third full-length album with Blood Duster’s Jason PC, at the enigmatic Goatsound Studios. The mastering was done by Brad Boatwright at Audiosiege Studio (Sleep, High On Fire, Nails) in the US, while the cover artwork was created by Boyd Synnott and Simon Robins for GraphOrlock.

Commented by KING PARROT: “Ugly Produce reaches new heights in abrasive song-writing and serves up an odious pile of repulsive flavors you wouldn’t want to find on your local fruit and vegetable shelves. A repugnant harvest of gnarled and nasty grind, death metal, thrash, and punk rock and it’s more caustic than ever”.

In addition, the band have Fall tour dates in Europe with friggin’ Decapitated, Venom Prison and Thy Disease. Check the dates out BELOW!

Decrepit Birth release triumphant ‘Hieroglyphic’ playthrough

Posted by Morgan Ywain Evans on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at 3:13 PM (PST)

Many death metal disciples are rightfully rejoicing over Axis Mundi, the return offering from tech death vets Decrepit Birth. ‘Hieroglyphic’ is one of the most intimidating musical performances of the year and so what could be more perfect for the band to release as a playthrough track? You can check out the dizzying spectacle of complete and utter sickness below.

“We’ve gone through an evolution throughout the years” says founding member and primary songwriter Matt Sotelo. “The last couple of albums we had, Diminishing Between Worlds and Polarity, were more progressive death metal. They were different from …And Time Begins, which is a different genre of death metal. It’s more brutal. I’m the type of guy who likes to experiment. …And Time Begins has no solos. It’s all really fast palm-muted riffs. The other albums breathed more with the guitars. I let chords ring out on Diminishing Between Worlds and Polarity. Axis Mundi is combination of all the stuff I’m into. I like it a lot right now. It’s more melodic. The riffs repeat intentionally. I want to have fun with these songs”.

Band Spotlight: Forgotten Tomb

Posted by Metal Riot on Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at 3:48 PM (PST)

Italian black/doom metallers FORGOTTEN TOMB have finished recording their new album, “We Owe You Nothing”. It will include 6 songs for approx. 40 minutes of music. The album recording-sessions started in December 2016 with drums being tracked at Big Pine Creek studio in Italy, but were abruptly interrupted when singer/guitarist Ferdinando “HM” M. was involved in a life-threatening car accident that left him unable to play for months. Recording-sessions were resumed and completed in May 2017 at SPVN Studio in Italy, while mix and mastering were done in June 2017 at Planet-Z studio (Hadley, Massachussets, USA) by Chris “Zeuss”Harris (Rob ZombieSix Feet UnderCrowbarSoulflyHatebreed, etc.). The album is due in fall 2017 on Agonia Records.

Photos from the recording sessions can be found HERE.

In the words of the band, “The new album is another step into our constant evolution. Our trademark sound is still there but this record is heavier than anything we’ve done before. It’s a varied one and it includes some new solutions that might catch some people off guard. It’s a pissed-off record but also extremely gloomy”.

Origin post official playthrough for “Accident and Error”

Posted by Morgan Ywain Evans on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at 11:52 AM (PST)

Unprecedented reigning tech death champs Origin have posted a playthrough for a new song “Accident and Error”. The song is from the band’s latest ear fuck Unparalleled Universe.

Unparalleled Universe was recorded and mixed at Chapman Studios in February 2017 alongside longtime collaborator and engineer Robert Rebeck (Tech N9ne). The band emerged with ten new songs including a cover of Brujeria’s “Revolución”, that were mastered in March 2017 by Colin Marston at Menegroth – The Thousand Caves (Altar of Plagues, Jarobe, Krallice) and wrapped in a cover prepared by Filip Ivanovic (Dismember, Cryptopsy, Heavy Montreal, Gorguts).

“It feels like an Origin album, but it’s unparalleled to what you might expect if you haven’t heard us for 10 or 15 years” says Paul Ryan. “To me, it’s a true reflection of ourselves. I compare it to an action movie. Our earlier material is filled with action from beginning to end. Now, the idea is to add a little more depth and dynamics. You could say there are some twists in the plot musically”.

Agonia Records $3 Bandcamp Sale til June 30th

Posted by Morgan Ywain Evans on Friday, May 26, 2017 at 11:04 AM (PST)

Agonia Records, home of some of the best extreme and esteemed metal bands on planet Urf, has a sick $3 Bandcamp sale on. If you area fan of bands and can’t even be bothered to shell out $3 for some of these releases, you suck. I mean, unless you are actually homeless or in a seriously dire life situation financially. But still. DIE FOR METAL! Rob a poseur for $3, yo.

Some records we really fucking love that we recommend from the bunch include The Regal Tribe by Usurpress, Incubus by Malfeitor or Shibalba’s new freaky as heck Psychostasis – Death Of Khat. If you had twenty bux you could get all three of those and still take ya girl for a tuna melt AND tip the waitress. Don’t be a loser!
