Soilwork have entered the studio

Posted by SeanB on Thursday, August 23, 2012 at 7:18 AM (PST)

Pioneers of melodic Swedish death metal Soilwork are scheduled to enter the studio today.  They are beginning work on their newest project entitled The Living Infinite. At present the album is slated for a December 2012 release via Nuclear Blast.  This will be the follow up to 2010′ The Panic Broadcast and the recording debut of guitarist David Andersson, a long time collaborator.  This time around production will be handled by Jens Bogren who has worked with such bands as Amon Amarth, Opeth, Bloodbath, and Katatonia.

Recently frontman Björn “Speed” Strid had the following to say about the record:

“It’s been a pretty long time coming, but as we speak I’m sitting here smiling my ass off listening to the demos that will forge into ‘The Living Infinite’. “I’ve been feeling pretty damn restless from this break to be honest with you, therefore it is with great excitement that I’ve approached this new album. As soon as we started working on songs in March, all my focus and energy went into building this new beast. We’re finished writing songs and I’m currently laying down demo vocals and I’m having a blast. I feel very inspired.

Guitarist David Andersson joins Soilwork

Posted by tyrusrunyan on Friday, June 29, 2012 at 9:27 AM (PST)

Swedish melodic death metal band Soilwork recently parted ways with founding member and guitarist Peter Wichers and have announced that he will be replaced by Night Flight Orchestra guitarist and long time collaborator David Anderson. Soilwork is currently in the process of writing their ninth studio album The Living Infinite which is set for release December 2012 via Nuclear Blast.

Frontman Björn “Speed” Strid had the following to say:
“He’s a blast to be around and a kick ass guitarist. Plus, we’ve known him for so many years, from all the touringtogether, we just know he’s a perfect fit for us.”

and this:
“We just had to do this. It’s in the best interest of both him and us. SOILWORK was born to be out there, tearing up the stage. Peter’s been unable to commit to the kind of touring we need to do and it’s time for us to move on. David’s played with us for so long, he’s really grown into the band. It feels natural, like a seamless transition. We’re thankful for everything Peter has contributed to SOILWORK over the years and we sincerely wish him the best.”

And this about the new album:
“It’s gonna be fantastic, the songs and ideas are flowing like crazy! As far as the musical direction goes, there’s tons of crushing, high energy, in-your-face metal. Trust me, we’re not about to go mellow anytime soon!”
