Here’s yet another deft description of my darling and I’s many death metal date nights. The destination for this evening of ear-splitting enchantment was to be Irving Plaza in New York City, The Black Dahlia Murder, Nile, and Skeletonwitch our marks. Inside was deceptively small, but not overflowing with heads. We managed to navigate quite nicely through the various merch tables, though lacking a fair amount of brutality in the wears. As for the show, we arrived just in time for Skeletonwitch to take the stage thrusting me right into photo mode in front of the Garnette brothers. Bring it on.

A full debrief over the show and some shitty amazing pictures await you on the next page.

New-ish Music: Skeletonwitch – “Tragedy Of Days”

Posted by SeanB on Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at 7:13 AM (PST)

While this isn’t exactly a “new” song, Skeletonwitch have just released “Tragedy Of Days” for streaming and download.  The song was originally featured on the album At One With The Shadows back in 2004, but the band had a chance to re-record it during the Forever Abomination sessions and you can most definitely hear the difference.  To listen for yourself click here.

A recent press release had this to say about the origins of the song:

“‘Tragedy of Days’ was an epic instrumental by [guitarist] Nate [Garnette]’s former band Serkesoron. They disbanded after the untimely passing of Serkesoron’s frontman, Thom Wright. Shortly after the band called it quits, Skeletonwitch was born. We re-recorded the track and Chance [Garnette] added vocals as a tribute to Thom, immortalizing him in song.”

Skeletonwitch UK tour update, to embark on US tour in Spring

Posted by mattevans on Friday, February 3, 2012 at 8:48 AM (PST)

Ohio metal slaves, Skeletonwitch are currently touring the UK with The Black Dahlia Murder.  The bands will tour together in the US in the spring.  Nile and Hour of Penance will join.

Skeletonwitch guitarist Scott Hedrick commented on their current UK tour, “We’re in the midst of shredding England with The Black Dahlia Murder, and it’s been a whirlwind of beer, booze, blast beats and kabobs! Most bands do a handful of U.K. shows; we’re doing 21.  Either we’re onto something here or we’re fucking insane. Probably a bit of both… and it’s only going to get worse when we team up with Black Dahlia again in the States and throw Nile and Hour of Penance into the mix. Fucking stoked! Hope to see you there.”

Skeletonwitch taps drummer Tony Laureano for tour and upcoming album

Posted by katstat on Monday, March 21, 2011 at 3:01 PM (PST)

Black metallers Skeletonwitch from Ohio have tapped drummer Tony Laureano for their upcoming Spring dates and to play on their upcoming as-yet-untitled new album, due out this fall. Laureano, who’s played for acts such as 1349, Nile, Dimmu Borgir and more, will be replacing the recently departed Derrick “Mullet Chad” Nau, who is returning to art school and further pursuing his art career.

Guitarist Scott Hedrick commented on the addition of Laureano and departure of Nau: Our good friend Tony will be playing drums on our April tour, new album, and for the foreseeable future. We’re fucking stoked to have a drummer of his caliber and experience on board. He’s a beast behind the kit and a great fucking guy as well. You can’t ask for more than that!
After our last tour Derrick informed us that he is putting down the drum sticks and picking up the paint brush. He is returning to art school and does not wish to be a musician anymore. We would like to thank Derrick for his years of dedication to Skeletonwitch. Though we will miss him, there is no bad blood. We will always remain great friends and wish him the best with his new endeavor.
