Behemoth announces new album title: “The Satanist”

Posted by GageT on Friday, May 31, 2013 at 7:31 AM (PST)

behemoth2012wlogoWell, they always say to keep it simple, stupid. Polish headbangers Behemoth have never been ones for subtlety, but now they’ve just gone for it: their new album is called The Satanist. The record, their tenth full-length, is due in the fall via Nuclear Blast in Europe and Metal Blade in North America. The band has been holed up in Hertz studio in Poland with the Wieslawscy brothers and Daniel Bergstrand. The band has been sporadically releasing recording updates and lyrics on their Facebook, so check that out if you’re interested.

Guitarist and vocalist Adam “Nergal” Darski had this to say about the new record title:

“It took us over two decades to come up with a title that…says it all. While our new songs artistically take surprisingly adventurous directions, our message stands steadfast—Proud and Radical. The Satanist stands for undying yearning for liberation and love for freedom in all aspects of life. Considering all our life experiences that often took dramatic curves I couldn’t think of more appropriate and fitting statement of who and where we are now.”

BehemothExtreme Polish metallers Behemoth are in the studio recording their new album, and there are even pictures to prove it.  The band is currently at Hertz studio in Bialystok, Poland and planning for a late 2013 release via Metal Blade in North America and a Nuclear Blast release in Europe.

Polish extreme metal band Behemoth’s frontman Nergal has been a busy man lately.  Between releasing an autobiography, having a custom Behemoth motorcycle built, going back to court on blasphemy charges after being acquitted, and now playing a Nazi in a new movie.

Back in 2007 Nergal tore up a Bible, called it “a book of lies” and called Christianity “the most murderous cult on the planet” during a September 2007 performance in Gdynia, Poland.  He was formally charged with blasphemy in court, and in 2011 was acquitted on the basis that it was artistic expression on par with the image of the band.  That ruling has been overturned and now Nergal faces a brand new trial.  Shitty.

On a lighter note, Nergal is playing German Foreign Minister Joachim von Ribbentrop in a new comedy film about “a young couple living in present-day Warsaw. Their home happens to be the former German Embassy, and entering the elevator one day, they find themselves transported back to the eve of war in 1939.”

Show Review: Decibel Magazine Tour – Chicago – 04.13.12

Posted by JDKleinhans on Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at 8:22 PM (PST)

Friday the 13th of April 2012. Chicagoland lay beneath a cold grey sky. The windy city was living up to its other known name. I ventured forth from my quiet wooded hamlet in the north to partake in the glorious heathenry and debauchery of declared freedom and independence – The Decibel Magazine Tour.

Featuring a varied lineup of elite bands, veterans and journeymen of the left hand path, the tour began its odyssey on April 11th in Ohio and will wind its way through North America to arrive at its closing ceremony in New York City on May 12th. I had the distinct pleasure of experiencing the musical rituals of these bands on its third night beneath the ceiling and narrow hall of The Bottom Lounge, just west of downtown Chicago. Unfortunately, due to the natural chaos of the universe and the interference of man, Watain had been postponed and I missed their musical display by only a handful of days. Though, my disappoint was quickly salved when the first hum of the guitar amp tickled my ears and shook my flesh.

Continue here for complete details of the experience and browse through the multitude of pictures.

Behemoth banned from Ohio venue

Posted by XxCrashQueenxX on Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at 12:25 PM (PST)

Behemoth The Deccibel Magazine tour is set to kick off in less than ten days and a quick change of venues had to happen for night one of the tour. Behemoth has been banned from the Ohio venue The Brewmaster’s Gate because their religious beliefs conflict with those of the owners.

Behemoth’s vocalist, Nergal had this to say about this situation:  “Wow, big motherfuckin’ WOW! We are facing a legendary moment: Amerika, the land of the free, is banning Behemoth coz of religious beliefs. The madness starts in Ohio, but of korz we are playing anyway. Nothing can stop us now. God, please save me from this freedom…”

No need to fear for those of you who were planning on attending the show, a new venue has already been confirmed and the show will now take place at the Columbus, Ohio venue Al Rosa.
