Guns N’ Roses keyboardist Dizzy Reed recently spoke to The Jakarta Post about the band’s next album, hoping it won’t take another 10 years to deliver like Chinese Democracy did. He states:

“We had a lot of stuff that we haven’t finished from the past, some great songs… I just hope it won’t take us another 10 years.”

Chinese Democracy, the last Guns N’ Roses record, was released in November 2008 after many years of delays, writing and recording, and lineup changes.

Man allegedly kills woman while singing Guns N’ Roses song

Posted by SeanB on Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at 8:43 AM (PST)

We really should have all seen this coming.  Although it’s a bit late as far as the year goes and a little surprising that it happened in California and not northern New England or down south, reportedly a man has killed his onetime girlfriend while singing along to the lyrics of the Guns N’ Roses song “Used To Love Her.”  Again, should have seen it coming.

Click here to see a video of said song.

So, a 48 year old man by the name of Thomas Michael Wilhelm allegedly drank a bunch of pills down with some vodka, stole his neighbors handgun (by the way, what kind of asshole doesn’t keep his guns locked up???) and shot his ex.  Reportedly the two had dated before and were now business partners.  Although this is obviously tragic and no one deserves to die, one has to wonder, what did she do to make this dude go Syd Barrett shit crazy on her and sing a fucking GNR song while killing her?

Axl says there will be no Guns N’ Roses reunion with original lineup

Posted by Metal Dude on Friday, November 2, 2012 at 7:34 PM (PST)

In a recent interview with USA Today, Guns N’ Roses frontman Axl Rose (again) dismissed rumors/reports that there will be a reunion with the original lineup. He states:

“The ball’s not in my court. I’m surviving this war, not the one who created this war.”

The original Guns N’ Roses lineup, which lasted from 1985 to 1990, consisted of Axl himself on vocals, Slash on guitar, Izzy Stradlin also on guitar, Duff McKagan on bass and Steven Adler on drums.

Guns N’ Roses are reportedly working on a new album. Their most recent one, Chinese Democracy, was released in 2008 after many years of writing and recording.

Axl Rose says no to Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction; still hates Slash too

Posted by SeanB on Thursday, April 12, 2012 at 9:55 AM (PST)

To absolutely no one’s surprise, Axl Rose has asked the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame not to include him in its recent nomination of Guns N’ Roses and has refused to show up even if they do.  He’s released a pretty lengthy statement about the whole ordeal where he specifically mentions all the other members of the band…except for Slash.

The funny thing is, the Hall of Fame doesn’t seem to care.  They released their own statement saying:

“We are sorry he will not be able to accept his induction in person.”

It looks like the April 14, 2012 ceremony is going down with or without him.  To read Axl’s statement in full, click here.

According to the unofficial Van Halen website Van Halen News Desk, the band will announce the first details of its upcoming tour next Tuesday (January 3rd), with tickets set to go on sale a week later. The website also mentions that their as-yet-untitled long-awaited new album is supposed to be out on February 7, 2012, with the first single and video set to premiere on January 10. This will be the band’s first release with original singer David Lee Roth since 1984 (despite the title, it was technically released on December 31, 1983, making this their first release with Dave in 29 years).

The band will regroup next year for a world tour. Earlier this week, they announced that tickets will be available starting on January 10th, supposedly the same day their new single and video gets premiered.

Van Halen released their last full-length studio album, Van Halen III, back in 1998.

Current Guns N’ Roses guitarist DJ Ashba was recently interviewed by Banana 101.5 Rocks, where he talked about the possibility of a reunion with their original lineup. He was asked if he would be offended if it happened and replied:

“No, not at all. I get asked that a lot and my honest opinion is that I don’t ever foresee that happening, to be honest, just from what I know. But I would be the first person in line to buy a ticket, that’s for sure. So I have no problem with it whatsoever.”

Cover Art Tues…er…Thursday: “Black is the New Black” Edition

Posted by jessepac on Thursday, August 25, 2011 at 10:10 PM (PST)

black-tide-cover-thumbHow many of you Metal Rioters out there have gone to your local record store of choice and picked up a new metal album solely based on the art that graces its cover? Unfortunately, with the growth of iTunes and Pandora it seems easier and easier to overlook album cover art in general, but in the world of Heavy Metal we’re here to remind you that the art form is still alive and well! Each Tuesday we will present to you the best album covers of the week and draw focus into what makes each cover so damn badass.

This week features various tones of every metal band’s favorite color: black. The best example might be the above image from Black Tide, or maybe the other direction, say Leprous‘ mermaid goat sitting in a pitcher of lemonade forcing said drink down someone’s throat that happens to be tied to an aardvark/squirrel hyprid?

Check out this week’s offering right here and VOTE on which cover YOU think should win “Cover Art of the Week”!

Guns N’ Roses Frontman Axl Rose Court Date Set

Posted by jillettinger on Thursday, March 10, 2011 at 1:53 PM (PST)

Axl Rose, the last original member and frontman of 80’s metal legends, Guns N’ Roses, will have his day in court in early 2012.

The $20 million lawsuit comes as a result of the misuse of the classic Guns N’ Roses song, “Welcome to the Jungle” in the video game “Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock” put out by Activision Blizzard, Inc. Rose claims he was misled by Activision, who he says persuaded him to authorize use of the track and then lied and hid information about their intention to feature Slash, the former guitarist for GN’R, who Rose did not want connected with the band in the game.

Rose also alleges that the GN’R track, “Sweet Child O’ Mine” was used in a promotion for Guitar Hero III, although it was only licensed for Guitar Hero II.

The trial is scheduled for January 23rd.
