Korn ventures into electronic dub-step genre with “Get Up”

Posted by NichTheHair on Friday, April 15, 2011 at 1:47 PM (PST)

In an effort to quell the anticipation of an impending EP release, Korn release a song called “Get Up” featuring Skrillex. Sonny “Skrillex” Moore is formerly of From First to Last and Team Sleep, which was a side project of Deftones singer Chino Moreno.

Singer Jonathan Davis had this to say about working with Skrillex:

“I heard a few of Skrillex’s remixes and really felt there would be a good chance that he would have the right sensibility to connect us to a new hard sound and direction, but still keeping Korn guitars and our vibe. We were just thinking of trying something new, to be honest, so I had my manager reach out to the Skrillex camp. When we got into the studio the connection was instant!”

The track can also be downloaded Monday April 18th for free from Roadrunner Records.

KornBakersfield Metal band Korn have been nominated for a Grammy in the “Best Metal Performance” category with their song “Let the Guilt Go” Marking their 7th Grammy nomination to date, Korn are up against Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Lamb of God, and Slayer in the genre’s only category.

Commenting on the honor, Korn frontman Johnathan Davis checked in with Noisecreep, saying, “Our new album, “KornIII: Remember Who You Are” really means a lot to us. It’s a return to our roots. So the fact that the Grammy committee recognizes one of our favorite tracks from that album is an immense honor and, to be nominated alongside Maiden — well, that makes it even more killer.”

In what promises to be the hottest tour of winter 2011, Korn and Disturbed, two of rock’s biggest acts, are teaming up to co-headline this year’s “Monster Energy Music As A Weapon 5 Tour”.

“We are thrilled to launch the Monster Energy Music As A Weapon 5 Tour with our good friends from Korn,” says Disturbed’s singer David Draiman. “Every year we try to up the ante, and this year, by having Korn co-headline, we really think it’s going to be our best tour yet. When the idea first came up, one of the main things both bands agreed upon and wanted to focus on was hitting a lot of smaller markets. It’s exciting to bring a show like this to cities that are usually skipped over on some of the other larger rock tours that only hit the major markets. We have a lot of loyal fans in these cities and we wanted to bring them a show that they deserve”.
