New Video: Behemoth births “Lucifer”

Posted by jessepac on Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at 11:35 AM (PST)

Few bands do metal better than Behemoth, and even fewer manage to bring a dark visual style to their videos that could scare unborn children and blind men. With their latest offering, “Lucifer,” the Polish gods take one of the best tracks from their most recent album Evangelion and give it the visual stimuli needed to really leave a lasting impression.

The band had been teasing this video for awhile, and the wait is finally over and all 7:53 are creepy, lasting, and wholly Behemoth.

Behemoth post studio footage

Posted by jessepac on Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at 12:51 PM (PST)

Behemoth is on the road to recovery and we have the video to prove it. After announcing a comeback and a few Polish live shows, we now have some live footage of Nergal and the boys tearing it up in the studio.

Vocalist/guitarist Nergal comments: “It’s been two weeks since we began rehearsing for tour. Things are going very smoothly and the chemistry is definitely back! We feel very much refreshed. But what excites me the most is the fact that we’ve already started jamming out NEW song. Crazy, ain’t it? I’m super stoked. It sounds so fuckin’ sinister, I can’t even describe it…Fast, furious, but more evil in a way. Stay tuned, more info will follow!”

Behemoth’s Nergal is back in court for tearing up a bible on stage

Posted by jessepac on Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at 12:19 PM (PST)

Never one to avoid controversy, Behemoth‘s Nergal finds himself in front of a Polish court in order to justify his use of over-the-top theatrics. This time, it’s not blood, mutilation, or extreme acts of violence or sexuality that has gotten him in trouble, instead, the ripping up of a bible on stage has brought the ire of many.

The tough front-man is coming off of chemo treatments and marrow transplants for a bout with Leukemia, so his court battle might be little more than an annoyance for the man who just received the “Metal As Fuck” award from Metal Hammer.

Click here to watch a video of Negral speaking about this legal battle…in Polish.

Behemoth back to rehearsals for the first time in 2011

Posted by NichTheHair on Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at 12:07 PM (PST)

Behemoth hasn’t rehearsed as a band since Nergal was diagnosed with Leukemia in 2010. Since then, Nergal has undergone chemo therapy and a bone marrow transplant. Now, for the first time in over a year, Behemoth is back in the rehearsal space working on old and new songs.

Vocalist/guitarist Nergal has issued the following update: “Sooo, first rehearsals after the transplant are under our belts! I didn’t want to get overexcited at first, just wanted to see how things would go, but I have to tell you…the second rehearsal we fuckin’ nailed “Ov Fire And The Void”, “Lucifer”, “Conquer All” or “Antichristian Phenomenon” flawlessly! One of us even asked: ‘Did we really take a year off from each other?’ Ha ha… it was good times in great company! But the biggest surprise were the songs we NEVER played live ever and planning to do on the upcoming “Phoenix Rising Tour”. I won’t reveal any names yet, let it be a mystery til we hit the stage, all right?”

“In other news, I started jamming out some NEW shit too…too early to give any further comments but it sounds VERY disturbing and eerie. Can’t fuckin wait to unleash those ideas to my friends…”

Nergal, iconic frontman for Polish blackened death metallers Behemoth, made his comeback to the stage this past weekend on May 6 at Mega Club, Katowice in Poland. Nergal did not enter the stage with his fellow Behemoth colleagues, rather with Carl McCoy & Fields of the Nephelim. This marks Nergal’s first public appearance since his spinal marrow transplant several months ago.

Commented Nergal: “I just came off stage…Katowice, Poland. It was my first performance after the transplant. I don’t remember when the last time I was THAT nervous. First of all, I had to join one of my favorite bands ever, true legends, FIELDS OF THE NEPHILIM… secondly, I’m still not 100% in shape so I didn’t know how my body would react. I would risk saying I’m maybe 60% of what I used to be… but still progressing! Anyway, We did a song “Penetration” together with Carl McCoy and Co. What a blast I have to tell you. I had a serious adrenaline rush and it was such a boost of energy I can’t even describe. My mouth dried out after 30 seconds so I could hardly breathe but the energy wouldn’t let me stop. I was carried away. The moment I saw the crowd, I felt this double bass pounding underneath my feet… I was in trance. I’m counting days ’til we come back with Behemoth full time. 5 months to go…huh.”

Death metal masters, Behemoth have selected “Abyssus Abyssum Invocat” as the title to the band’s expanded repackaging of their early 2000’s EPs “Conjuration” and “Slaves Shall Serve.”

Set for a Metal Blade Records release in the US on June 7, “Abyssus Abyssum Invocat” features both EPs completely re-mastered and also includes bonus tracks, new artwork, and new liner notes from Behemoth frontman, Nergal.

“There’s been a demand for our long-time sold out EP’s [“Conjuration” and “Slaves Shall Serve”],” says Nergal.  And, he says, fans “can find us challenging ourselves with covers of such acts like Nine inch Nails, Nefilim or Danzig among others.”
