Killswitch Engage headlining US tour this summer

Posted by Fireball13 on Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at 9:26 AM (PST)

Killswitch-EngageBoston metalcore band Killswitch Engage have announced their first headlining U.S. tour this summer in support of their new album Disarm The Descent.  The album was recently released via Roadrunner Records.

Joining the band on tour will be As I Lay Dying, Miss May I and Affiance. The tour will kick off on May 30th in Oklahoma City and will end on July 8th in Joliet, Illinois. Click here to check out a complete list of tour dates, cities and venues.

Vocalist Jesse Leach commented on the upcoming tour:

“Everyone in the Killswitch family is excited to get out on our first U.S. headlining tour in support of our new record. We are hitting some great cities and have a great mix of songs from every era of Killswitch as well as of course a handful of new ones.”

Leach continued, “We look forward to sharing this tour with our old friends and brothers in metal As I Lay Dying. I personally have never had the chance to tour with them and I am looking forward to having such a quality band out with us to give this tour even more fire! We will also be joined by a talented and up-and-coming band Miss May I and a new band we’re all excited to see live called Affiance. Thanks to all the U.S. fans for your support! Our live show will be full-on energy with all of us ready to take this to a whole new level.”

Bassist Mike D. concurred saying, “We are super excited to be back out with our good buds in As I Lay Dying! They are some of our favorite dudes to hang with on the road, so assumptions are high that utter chaos shall ensue. There will be so much metal riffage — you could build your own Carnival Cruse Ship. That’s right, ‘CHUGGA CHUGGA Paralysis’ is surely imminent.”

Review: California Metal Fest, November 24th

Posted by XxCrashQueenxX on Saturday, December 8, 2012 at 11:08 AM (PST)

Hot, sticky, and sweaty. That is a quick overview of what the California Metal Fest experience was like. For being so late in November—it felt like a hot summer day in July.

Once I got to the NOS Events Center in San Bernardino, California the line was already wrapped around the building of people dying to get in. It was only ten in the morning.

New Music: Killswitch Engage – “No End In Sight” (Live)

Posted by SeanB on Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at 7:32 AM (PST)

Here’s a video of some of the first new music to come out since vocalist Jesse Leach has re-joined the Massachusetts metal band Killswitch Engage.  It’s the band performing the song “No End In Sight” which I’m assuming will be on the album.  The video was recorded Friday, July 20 at Ground Zero in Traverse City, Michigan.

Click here to check it out.

When asked about being back and making new music Jesse had the following to say:

“It feels great, man. Surprisngly, [it was] a natural transition. I think the one thing for me was just learning [former Killswitch Engage singer] Howard’s [Jones] material, learning how I was gonna, like, live in the songs and make them my own, and once that happened, it feels natural. It almost feels, in a way, that I hadn’t left, but it is ten years later and we’re all much different people, so it just feels a lot better than it did back then.”

“We’ve got two songs completed for our new record and another 12-13 to go that I’m gonna finish up in the fall. . . Thankfully, [they didn’t have any vocals done with Howard before I rejoined the group] — it was just music; it had no lyrics, no vocals — Howard hadn’t attempted to do anything, so it was a nice, clean slate. [The stuff sounds] fresh, fast, heavy… I couldn’t be more stoked to sing on the record. As a matter of fact, once I signed up to do the audition for those guys, they took me back to Adam’s [Dutkiewicz, guitar] house and we listened to the record and that totally sold me. When I heard the record, I was like, ‘I’ve gotta sing on this.”

Show Review: New England Metal and Hardcore Fest (Day 3)

Posted by Morgan Ywain Evans on Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at 11:12 PM (PST)

The New England Metal and Hardcore Fest is an institution, and this year was one of the best yet. The Palladium Theatre in Worcester, MA was choked with kids wearing way too many band t-shirts and full of enthusiasm on Day 3, when I attended. Days 1 and 2 this year boasted bands like Dragonforce, Bane, Unearth, This is Hell, Nile and The Greenery (though all in all the fest was way more hardcore and metalcore than metal this year, or what I consider metal). Still, I had to attend day 3 and see the return of the original Killswitch Engage line-up plus Recon with Rob Fusco (One King Down, Most Precious Blood)!

The show was awhile back in April at this point, but besides being very busy with multiple articles, bands of my own and jobs, I have also been trying to process all of the energy from that day and do it justice. Better late than never! (Just pretend this is a bi-monthly print mag and not a web site for a minute). Caught some good sets from For Today, Stick To Your Guns and many more.

By now it is no secret that the return of Killswitch Engage with Jesse Leach was a huge, powerful success that just might re-invigorate metalcore if scene kids take all that massive good energy to heart and stop the scene bullshit and redundant breakdowns. Jesse’s positive, spiritual and world searching lyrics initially defined the group that “killed Nu Metal”, before his absence of many years in other projects (Seemless,Times Of Grace and The Empire Shall Fall).

Jesse Leach speaks up as Killswitch Engage’s new singer

Posted by KageDrummer on Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at 8:38 PM (PST)

Massachusetts metalcore act, Killswitch Engage, have announced that their original vocalist, Jesse Leach, has returned to the band to replace Howard Jones. On the subject of the line-up change the band stated:

“Truth be told, Jesse blew us away in auditions. The room seemed charged with electricity. He commanded both new and old material, and proved, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that he wanted to do this. The choice became very clear and apparent. This change is very exciting. We know you’re going to love it. This is truly a new era in KsE history and it is ready to shred your face off. So, please help us in welcoming Jesse back into the KsE family; he is a rare and great talent, a fact that older KsE fans have known for years. Here is to a killer new record and a bright future. The five of us cannot wait to write this record and play shows together and bring that feeling to our fans. It’s been far too long.”

Leach also went on to say:

“It is a great honor to rejoin my brothers after all of these years. After some discussion and much reflection, it was obvious to me this was the path I was meant to take. We got together and jammed on the ‘Howard-era’ songs, as well as some “Alive or Just Breathing”-era songs and we all felt the synergy. I look forward to writing the new record, since the demos sound absolutely amazing, as well as breathing new life and getting comfortable with the soulful songs Howard has written. It is a new chapter of my life filled with new and exciting challenges. I will give all that I can to honor the position I have been given and take nothing for granted. I will sing every note with all of my soul. I am very blessed and very thankful to be back in the KsE family! All things happen in their due time and now is the time for this reunion and new direction.”

No pre-cog needed: Jesse Leach rejoins Killswitch Engage

Posted by NichTheHair on Monday, February 6, 2012 at 11:42 PM (PST)

In what should come as no surprise, former Killswitch Engage singer Jesse Leach has indeed become the replacement for Howard Jones. Check their website and see for yourself. They are all standing together for a picture, Jesse in front, in the snow. Smiling, laughing! Look! It’s on the internet. It must be real!

Previously, Leach and guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz formed and recorded under the monicker Times of Grace in 2011. It was average.

Howard Jones of Killswitch Engage leaves band

Posted by KageDrummer on Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at 3:29 PM (PST)

Howard Jones, vocalist for Massachusetts metalcore act, Killswitch Engage, is no longer in the band. The remaining band members did not share why he is no longer in the band but they will continue with a new singer. Killswitch has also released this statement:

To our family, friends and fans: We have decided to continue on without Howard Jones as the singer of Killswitch Engage. We love Howard and are thankful for the nine years that we’ve had him in the band. Out of respect for everyone involved we will not be discussing the specific reasons behind this decision. Howard is a part of our family and always will be, and we wish him well. He has left big shoes to fill, so we certainly have our work cut out for us to find the next singer of Killswitch, something we plan on making priority #1 going forward. Most importantly, thanks to all of you for all the support throughout the years and for sticking by us for all this time. We really do appreciate it and we very much look forward to having a new record for all of you in the not too distant future that we can all be proud of. Sincerely, Adam, Joel, Mike & Justin.

The band’s last album, “Killswitch Engage,” was released in June 2009 through Roadrunner Records.
