Update: Megadeth’s Dave Mustaine apparently appeased; issues thanks

Posted by Lucas Riot on Sunday, July 17, 2011 at 9:03 AM (PST)

Dave Mustaine of MegadethLast night we reported that Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine was threatening to leave the Rockstar Mayhem summer tour on account of a tweet he made to his public twitter account reading:

“For the first time in my career, I am considering walking from a tour.”

With no further information on the circumstances surrounding the tweet, it appears that whatever caused Mustaine to make the tweet has been remedied and he is happy with the results.  Approximately five hours after the first tweet, Mustaine issued a second tweet thanking those who apparently solved the issues:

“Thanks to all the amazing people who fixed the problems tonight.”

So it appears that after a little bit of drama Megadeth will continue on with the Rockstar Mayhem Festival.

Megadeth announce Johnny K as producer for next album

Posted by jessepac on Monday, May 9, 2011 at 9:15 AM (PST)

After using Andy Sneap on 2009’s Endgame, Megadeth has decided to switch gears in the production chair for their upcoming untitled album, due out on Roadrunner Records sometime this year. Johnny K will be taking over mixing duties, and his work with Sevendust, Disturbed, Finger Eleven, Drowning Pool, and more has garnered much press and a few Grammy nominations.

Andy Sneap commented on not being able to produce the new Megadeth album, after handling the prior two:

“I’m doing another project that I also play guitar in called Hell and we’re doing some summer festivals this year so it kind of cut into the whole schedule that was planned with Megadeth.”

Megadeth bassist David Ellefson had this to say about the change:

“We are working on it now so it’s a bit early to encapsulate what the final will ultimately sound like”

Sonisphere Knebworth 2011 festival flyerSonisphere has announced the festival will be bringing together Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax in the UK for the first time in history to headline the festival Friday night July 8, 2011 in Knebworth.  Sonisphere Knebworth takes place July 8th – 10th,  2011 at Knebworth House.  Slipknot has already been announced as a headliner for Sonisphere UK on Sunday night July 10th at Knebworth.

Last summer saw the live debut of The Big Four – as this collective of thrash legends are commonly known – marking what was possibly the most significant event in the history of metal. Fans all over Europe could barely contain their excitement, as over 500,000 metalheads bore witness to the show they thought they’d never see.

The Big Four fever did not stop at Europe, as fans the world over eagerly anticipated the possibility of seeing the historical show for themselves in their own countries. Such was the demand that a live cinecast of the Bulgarian show saw over 130,000 people turn out to local cinemas, with reports of mosh pits breaking out in movie theatres across the globe. The recently released DVD of the event, which features all four bands collaborating on a cover of Diamond Head’s “Am I Evil” as well as their individual sets, has only added fuel to the Big Four fire, with a frenzied demand for more performances in the countries not fortunate enough to play host last summer.

“Always excited to do big 4 shows” says Slayer’s Kerry King. “Now England is in line to be devastated by this heavy metal powerhouse! Can’t Fucking wait!!!”
