Saxon prepares to record a new album for release in 2013

The headline pretty much says it all but NWOBHM front runners Saxon have announced that they are preparing to record a new album set for release early 2013. The band released the following statement about the as of yet untitled album:

“Hi everybody! We are very busy these days with the new album and we have already a few ideas together. I am writing melodies and lyrics and arranging them into songs. We will give the rest of the band a break for hols. After that we have a full session in April before heading to the mighty sugar loaf and rock Sao Luis! We are really looking forward to coming back to celebrate an awesome party with our South American fans! Needless to say that the Rock In Den Ruinen Festival in Germany is also going to be great!

FullForce announce new guitarist Stefan Rosqvist with intro video

FullForce, the epic Swedish power metal outfit has announced that guitarist CJ Grimmark has decided to leave the band “due to some changes in his life situation which he had to put priority to.” His replacement has been announced as ex-Dawn of Oblivion guitarist Stefan Rosqvist.

FullForce had this to say about Stefan:

“Stefan Rosqvist is a very talented, versatile guitarist and musician and the band is really excited to have him onboard.”

The band has released a video introducing Rosqvist and featuring a solo he has recorded for heir new album. You can see the video along with the official statement from the band here.

RIOT guitarist Mark Reale dead at 57

Today is a sad day in the world of heavy metal.  Mark Reale, guitarist and founding member of the legendary heavy metal band RIOT passed away yesterday.  His passing was the result of a life long and courageous battle with Crohn’s disease.

Mark was tragically only 57 years young and had reportedly been in a coma since early January as a result of a subarachnoid hemorrhage.  This is especially heartbreaking becauese Mark was trying to practice with the band so he could perform right before his condition worsened.

A Pale Horse Named Death announce headlining European tour

New York alternative metal band A Pale Horse Named Death have recently announced their first ever European headlining tour. The band will be touring in support of their 2011 debut album “And Hell Will Follow Me” which was released earlier this year via Steamhammer.

Swedish heavy metal act, Fullforce, have released a new music video for their song “Open Your Eyes” off their latest album “One.” Produced again by Rainer Holmgren the video show excerpts from their successful gigs in Sweden and Germany. The band has also announced they are working on a new album and is expected to be released in the summer of 2012.

Fullforce supporting Edguy on tour, releasing new album “One” in Japan

Swedish melodic heavy metallers Fullforce announced via their Facebook page, that they will support Edguy on a few selected tour dates in September.

In addition they also announced that the Japanese label ‘Marquee/Avalon’ have licensed their album “One,” to be released in Japan. There is no release date set, but according to the partners it will be announced very soon.

Saxon announce “Call To Arms” North American release date

British heavy metallers Saxon released their new album “Call to Arms” on June 3rd in Europe. The band gave the following brief update confirming a North American release date:

“Great news! We have a release date for North America & Canada. It will be the 27th of September distributed by EMI. American tour dates to follow soon.”

Gothic doomsters A Pale Horse Named Death are set to release their debut album “And Hell Will Follow Me” via SPV/Steamhammer on June 14th. The album will be available in three formats: Digipak CD, 2 LP Set and digital download, the 2 LP Set also includes a copy of the CD.

Kamelot Announce Roy Khan’s Departure

Florida power metal band Kamelot announced that their vocalist Roy Khan decided to leave the band, with following statement.

“With a heavy heart we can now announce that Roy Khan has chosen to leave the band. We wanted to give him ample time for this kind of decision, due to his recent burnout and also the amount of amazing times we have shared with him in Kamelot. We respectfully accept his resignation from the band and wish him the best in his future endeavors. The timing is actually good since we feel the uncertainty the fans have had can now be laid to rest and the band can move on to finding a new singer.”

Nashville Pussy announce dates for upcoming tour of the U.S.
