The best thing I have heard yet in 2019 is "ICE watch", a completely rugged face buster from Arkansas hardcore band Terminal Nation which premiered at No Echo HERE. It will give you the insane over the top feels of a lot of heavy stuff without wondering if the band members have become weird conservative farts or are suddenly gonna cape for YAITW. The song even manages to out mosh the band's recent tune "Pulse Of The Dead" from Absolute Control. Good news is, TN have a split out with the homies in Neckbeard Deathcamp in February (it is sure to be a big year for both bands this year) and the gossip is we might get a TN full length this year as well. If you want to feel socially responsible while still doing reprehensible shit in the pit (I mean watch out for your peeps if someone falls down...but you know what I mean), this band will be entirely your shit. Bellowed vocals, powerviolence glory and a firm anti-xenophobia message.

Comments The Crown on their new album Cobra Speed Venom: “We are really looking forward to finally be able to show our fans how damn good this band can be when the circumstances are right. With that I mean to be able to do an album the way we want to do it: creating as a band, rehearsing as a band, recording as a band. You will hear a band performing here, with fierce energy and hunger!”

Rivers Of Nihil are justly being praised for their steady growth and driven, rage infused masterful modern death. Three albums in and if the new material we have heard so far is any indicator the band are well on the way to securing their legacy and never being forgotten as an important death metal act of note, but it sounds like they also have a LOT of surprises in store for us as well. The newest record is said to draw from a LOT more influences than the band previously has.
Today RoN made a huge announcement about their 3rd LP that has fans drooling:

Many bands get stuck in a comfortable routine of releasing the same album over and over again. Constantly relying on the same familiar formula may work for some bands, but it does not work for us. Music is art, and art is ever-changing. Without change, there is no progress. Without progress, the very fire that powers art and expression will die. This record is the sound of where we come from, where we are, and where we are going." Adds bassist/vocalist Adam Biggs:"This time around, the lyrics feel a little more personal than on previous albums. The story picks up several millennia after the events of 'Monarchy', where one person still remains alive, chosen by the planet to be the sole intelligent witness of its ultimate fate. But 'Where Owls Know My Name' is less about overarching narrative than our previous albums. The scenario is just a backdrop for the more emotional material we tried to put forth this time around. Ultimately, this is an album about loss, getting older, and reaching a point where death becomes a much more present part of your life.""Where Owls Know My Name" track-listing1. Cancer / Moonspeak2. Thrash metal legends Sacred Reich have signed with Metal Blade Records! They are currently writing material for what will be their sixth album and first since 1996’s Heal. Since their 1985 inception, the band has become one of the most revered 80s thrash bands and have continued to carry the torch with European tours, festival appearances, their first US tour in over 20 years, plus their 2012 Live at Wacken album. Given Sacred Reich‘s politically conscious material, today’s divisive climate means the band’s views are more relevant and vital than ever.
Sacred Reich vocalist and bassist Phil Rind comments:
“We are very happy to announce that SACRED REICH have signed with Metal Blade Records and we are writing songs for a new album. Our plan is to go into the studio this summer and have a new record out early next year. We are super excited and can’t wait to share some new music with you!”
Ireland’s reigning metal kings Primordial don’t really have casual fans. You either worship the blood soaked firmament they stride over or you don’t really get it because you are an idiot or something. The band teamed with producer Ola Ersfjord, who worked on their 2016 live album Gods to the Godless. The record was tracked at Dublin’s Camelot Studios, located adjacent to PRIMORDIAL’s rehearsal room. We are sure it will be another valuable addition to their storied discography. Can’t friggin’ wait, honestly!
Visit metalblade.com/primordial to check out the video for the first single “Stolen Years.”
Commenting about the album’s first single, ‘Stolen Years’, A.A. Nemtheanga added: “‘Stolen Years’ may seem like a strange choice as our lead single, and on the face of if I guess it is. It’s not a blood and thunder epic about tragedy and might and the ruin of nations, nor is it 9 minute epistle of doom. Have no fear, the album does contain those also but to open this time we chose something different. This album has some surprises and this is one of them, a short and painfully simple song which almost didn’t make the final cut if you can believe so. The video, cut by Costin Chioreanu, is about the journey involved in finally getting to that moment where you walk on stage, the song itself about that last night on earth that comes to us all, sometimes we never know when that might be, hold your loved ones tight tonight, this could be it…”Add to My Radar
North Carolina progressive metallers Between The Buried And Me have come into 2018 with a slew of exciting news!
The band has announced a two-part concept album entitled Automata and part one is expected to be released on March 9 via Sumerian Records.
They will embark on a North American headlining tour with The Dear Hunter and Leprous on March 2.
Tommy Giles Rogers, Jr. (Lead Vocals, Keyboards) states: “Every single week music comes and goes. We can get music instantly and with this luxury, the listener has a hard time sitting down with albums and exploring their every twist and turn. Because of this, we have decided to release our new album in two parts. Our music is dense and our albums are very long, so we want to give people two separate moments to dive in this year and explore new music that we’ve put our entire being into. We hope you enjoy the creation as much as we’ve enjoyed the process.”
Ash Avildsen (Sumerian Founder) states: “I first toured with BTBAM in early 2000s when they were on Lifeforce. Since then we remained friends and I have watched their career grow nonstop through eras on Victory and Metal Blade. I am very grateful such a seminal, influential and progressive group of musicians have chosen to partner with Sumerian for their next chapter. It’s days like this that remind me of my roots and excite me about our future.”

Pre Orders are now available HERE for a re-issue of Unearth‘s breakout album The Oncoming Storm. The record helped make the band one of the guiding lights of Metalcore in the early 00’s and built on the promise of earlier material soundly. Perhaps the band’s most ‘classic’ early release with fans, Unearth really hit an early career stride with this release by slightly refining their twin guitar attack into a more road tested and deadly professional sound. Nonetheless, it still remains heavy as hell and the band have never broken that pact with fans.

Very sad news today. Metal Injection reports that Pilgrim‘s Jon Rossi has died at the age of 26. This is a damn shame. So much life ahead of the dude and in a well loved and influential act as well. Our thoughts and hearts are with his family and friends. Pick up our favorite Misery Wizard in tribute (gotta love that “Astaroth” Cathedral-esque guitar march). What a shame. Rest in power.Add to My Radar
News broke today that Gwar’s Mike Derks is battling a bone marrow disorder. Balsac the Jaws of Death is a hero to many, the riff spewing glue that holds Gwar together. Let’s hope the metal and punk community will come together and try and help Mike. Gwar have certainly been through enough the last few years!Add to My Radar
This past summer, Cattle Decapitation embarked on a European trek, during which the band filmed a tour documentary, directed by Paul McGuire / Obscenery Films (https://obsceneryfilms.com/). To watch the behind-the-scenes and live footage from Cattle Decapitation on the road, please visit:http://www.facebook.com/cattledecapitation, where the video is now streaming live. Fans can also watch on YouTube HERE.
Guitarist Josh Elmore comments: “For several years now, fans have been asking the band to release a video chronicle with live performance footage and enhanced or ‘behind the scenes’ documentation. During a recent European run, our friend Paul McGuire of Obscenery Films traveled with the band and captured glimpses of what day-to-day life on the road is like for Cattle Decapitation and spoke with the members as they reflected on years of touring and what their future holds. The result is an entertaining, humorous and informative documentary that shows the band as a live entity and also what goes on during their down time on tour; play-throughs, interviews, concert chaos, Euro-tourism and more. We hope you enjoy it!”Add to My Radar
If you are the sort of person who doesn’t even feel squeamish or register an emotional shift when you see Nick from Fear The Walking Dead pushing a cart full of zombie heads, chances are you will feel a twinge of happiness in the bowels of your darkened soul pit as you hear “Red Before Black” by mighty death metal kings Cannibal Corpse for the first time. The song is probably their most immediate anthem of recent years since “Priests Of Sodom”, just an undeniable moment for the band from the opening note.
