Alexi Laiho hospitalized, canceled last night’s set

Posted by GageT on Friday, August 9, 2013 at 8:11 AM (PST)

Classic_ChildrenOfBodomDetails are still sparse right now, but apparently Children of Bodom frontman Alexi Laiho was hospitalized in Nashville last night, forcing the band to cancel their set at the sold-out show featuring them and Amon Amarth. No official statement has been given yet on the cause, but this is somewhat worrying given Laiho’s hospitalization last month which made them cancel a few Mayhem Fest dates. We’ll try to keep you updated if the status of the tour changes.

Chthonic premiere “Supreme Pain For The Tyrant”

Posted by longhairedpoet on Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at 1:36 PM (PST)

CHTHONIC Taiwanese metallers Chthonic have premiered the video for their song “Supreme Pain For The Tyrant” via Revolver Magazine.

Bassist Doris Yeh had this to say of the video:

“It’s hard enough to write music, but it’s even more tiring to shoot a music video. But I have to say that a video tells a story very well, and CHTHONIC’s music is especially suitable for a music video, because it contains a strong sense of history. I learned a lot in shooting these three music videos; I would love to have the opportunity to work with more directors.”

Check out the video here.

The band’s latest album Bu-Tik will be released in North America digitally on June 18 and on CD on June 25 via SpineFarm Records.

Halo Of Blood is scheduled for release June 11th through Nuclear Blast of course.  This will be Children Of bodom’s eighth full length release and the follow up to 2011’s Relentless Reckless Forever.   Guitarist/vocalist Alexi Laiho recently stated about the album:

“‘Halo Of Blood’ is the eighth studio album from Children Of Bodom, and believe it or not, but we still managed to keep it fresh and new while still maintaining the elements that make COB sound recognizable. It’s got the fastest and the slowest song we ever made and lyrics wise there are themes we had never had before. It’s 10 new songs of pure Nordic metal and whether you enjoy it with a beer or a glass of water, I’m sure you will have a good time.”

“I’m never short of ideas for music. Make your life colorful. Get on a plane. Go different places. Fulfill a few dreams or whatever. Live hard.”-Jaz Coleman.

Legends Killing Joke have done it all, but Jaz Coleman and company are set on showing the downtrodden world there is still somehow always MORE to do anyway. Defying defeatism and attacking the wounds of humanity and Mother Earth in song on their latest post-punk/thinking person’s rock release MMXII (Spinefarm/Universal), the band show that they are as potent as ever. Songs like the timely “Corporate Elect” and “Rapture” find the band current, thought provoking, electric and intoxicating as anything in their storied history of classic albums. There is no one quite like them. These are records you can profoundly live with.

Coleman spoke with Metal Riot’s Morgan Y. Evans about humanity’s need to live in harmony, the fatality of apocalyptic thinking and dream emphasis, past-lives, his symphonic career, the magic chemistry of Killing Joke, psychics and more! To say it was a lot to think about is an understatement, but we’d expect nothing less from one of the most brilliant performers of modern times.

Full Album Stream: Ensiferum – “Unsung Heroes” (24 Hours Only)

Posted by SeanB on Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at 6:25 PM (PST)

Finnish pagan/folk metal legends Ensiferum are streaming their brand new album Unsung Heroes for 24 hours only, so get to listening.  The album was released today on Spinefarm Records, is the band’s fifth album and the follow up to 2009’s From Afar.

Click here to listen to Unsung Heroes.

A recent press release had the following to say about the album:

(Unsung Heroes)”sees the Finnish five-piece — founded in 1995 — pushing their signature sound to bold new heights of drama and excess. A cinematic experience from first note to last, ‘Unsung Heroes’ takes the listener on a journey of genuine light and shade, with the 16 minute-plus ‘Passion Proof Power’ showing that when it comes to the epic statement, Ensiferum are very much in the front-line, swords at the ready.”

Finnish epic doom metal collective Swallow The Sun are streaming a new track from their soon to be released (in North America) album Emerald Forest and the Blackbird. The song is called “Labyrinth of London (Horror Pt. IV)” and you can find it streaming by clicking right here. Emerald Forest and the Blackbird is set for a September 4, 2012 Spinefarm Records release in North America and has already received much acclaim since it’s recent release in Europe.

Swallow The Sun has had a long running lyrical connotation with the television series Twin Peaks and this song is no exception.  The band recently quoted the series when asked about the track:  “Dark. Laughing. The owls were flying. Many things were blocked. Laughing. The owls were near. The dark was pressing in on her. Quiet then. Later, footsteps. One man passed by. Screams far away. Terrible, terrible. One voice.”

In support of the album Swallow The Sun will be embarking on fall North American tour with German metal legends Kreator and Accept.  The tour is being called The Teutonic Terror Attack and additional support will come from Canadian death metal group Blackgaurd.

Rock N’ Rolling in America: Interview – Matt Jones of The Treatment

Posted by XxCrashQueenxX on Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at 11:05 AM (PST)

I was recently given the opportunity to interview Matt Jones of The Treatment. The Treatment is a high energy rock n’ roll band from the UK, their sound can be comparable to that of rock legends AC/DC, but their age is that of recent high school graduate. Their old school sound, mixed with their young and high spirited energy for their passion to make music makes their band one to watch out for in the upcoming future. Mr. Jones and I discussed how their current (and first) American tour came about, what they are doing after this tour, and when their fans could expect new music from them.

Check out his answers here.
