Ireland’s reigning metal kings Primordial don’t really have casual fans. You either worship the blood soaked firmament they stride over or you don’t really get it because you are an idiot or something. The band teamed with producer Ola Ersfjord, who worked on their 2016 live album Gods to the Godless. The record was tracked at Dublin’s Camelot Studios, located adjacent to PRIMORDIAL’s rehearsal room. We are sure it will be another valuable addition to their storied discography. Can’t friggin’ wait, honestly!

Visit metalblade.com/primordial to check out the video for the first single “Stolen Years.”

Commenting about the album’s first single, ‘Stolen Years’, A.A. Nemtheanga added: “‘Stolen Years’ may seem like a strange choice as our lead single, and on the face of if I guess it is. It’s not a blood and thunder epic about tragedy and might and the ruin of nations, nor is it 9 minute epistle of doom. Have no fear, the album does contain those also but to open this time we chose something different. This album has some surprises and this is one of them, a short and painfully simple song which almost didn’t make the final cut if you can believe so. The video, cut by Costin Chioreanu, is about the journey involved in finally getting to that moment where you walk on stage, the song itself about that last night on earth that comes to us all, sometimes we never know when that might be, hold your loved ones tight tonight, this could be it…”

North Carolina progressive metallers Between The Buried And Me have come into 2018 with a slew of exciting news!

The band has announced a two-part concept album entitled Automata and part one is expected to be released on March 9 via Sumerian Records.

They will embark on a North American headlining tour with The Dear Hunter and Leprous on March 2.

Tommy Giles Rogers, Jr. (Lead Vocals, Keyboards) states: “Every single week music comes and goes. We can get music instantly and with this luxury, the listener has a hard time sitting down with albums and exploring their every twist and turn. Because of this, we have decided to release our new album in two parts. Our music is dense and our albums are very long, so we want to give people two separate moments to dive in this year and explore new music that we’ve put our entire being into. We hope you enjoy the creation as much as we’ve enjoyed the process.”

Ash Avildsen (Sumerian Founder) states: “I first toured with BTBAM in early 2000s when they were on Lifeforce. Since then we remained friends and I have watched their career grow nonstop through eras on Victory and Metal Blade. I am very grateful such a seminal, influential and progressive group of musicians have chosen to partner with Sumerian for their next chapter. It’s days like this that remind me of my roots and excite me about our future.”

The record was produced together with Fredrik Nordstrom at Studio Fredman.

The Crown comments: “We are really looking forward to finally be able to show our fans how damn good this band can be when the circumstances are right. With that I mean to be able to do an album the way we want to do it: creating as a band, rehearsing as a band, recording as a band. You will hear a band performing here, with fierce energy and hunger!”

Unearth ‘The Oncoming Storm’ Vinyl Re-Issue news

Posted by Morgan Ywain Evans on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at 3:15 PM (PST)

Pre Orders are now available HERE for a re-issue of Unearth‘s breakout album The Oncoming Storm. The record helped make the band one of the guiding lights of Metalcore in the early 00’s and built on the promise of earlier material soundly. Perhaps the band’s most ‘classic’ early release with fans, Unearth really hit an early career stride with this release by slightly refining their twin guitar attack into a more road tested and deadly professional sound. Nonetheless, it still remains heavy as hell and the band have never broken that pact with fans.

The Oncoming Storm LP re-issue
–180g Black Vinyl
–orange-brown marbled vinyl (EU exclusive – ltd. 300)
–“flame” splattered vinyl (EU exclusive – ltd. 200)
–pumpkin orange marbled vinyl (US exclusive – ltd. 300)
–root beer marbled vinyl (US exclusive – ltd. 300)
–gold / black split vinyl (US exclusive – ltd. 700)

RIP Pilgrim’s Jon Rossi

Posted by Morgan Ywain Evans on Friday, October 27, 2017 at 2:43 PM (PST)

Very sad news today. Metal Injection reports that Pilgrim‘s Jon Rossi has died at the age of 26. This is a damn shame. So much life ahead of the dude and in a well loved and influential act as well. Our thoughts and hearts are with his family and friends. Pick up our favorite Misery Wizard in tribute (gotta love that “Astaroth” Cathedral-esque guitar march). What a shame. Rest in power.

Gwar’s Mike Derks needs our help.

Posted by Morgan Ywain Evans on Thursday, October 26, 2017 at 11:47 AM (PST)

News broke today that Gwar’s Mike Derks is battling a bone marrow disorder. Balsac the Jaws of Death is a hero to many, the riff spewing glue that holds Gwar together. Let’s hope the metal and punk community will come together and try and help Mike. Gwar have certainly been through enough the last few years!

Cattle Decapitation Euro 2017 Tour Documentary Online

Posted by Morgan Ywain Evans on Thursday, October 19, 2017 at 11:25 AM (PST)

This past summer, Cattle Decapitation embarked on a European trek, during which the band filmed a tour documentary, directed by Paul McGuire / Obscenery Films (https://obsceneryfilms.com/). To watch the behind-the-scenes and live footage from Cattle Decapitation on the road, please visit:http://www.facebook.com/cattledecapitation, where the video is now streaming live. Fans can also watch on YouTube HERE.

Guitarist Josh Elmore comments: “For several years now, fans have been asking the band to release a video chronicle with live performance footage and enhanced or ‘behind the scenes’ documentation. During a recent European run, our friend Paul McGuire of Obscenery Films traveled with the band and captured glimpses of what day-to-day life on the road is like for Cattle Decapitation and spoke with the members as they reflected on years of touring and what their future holds. The result is an entertaining, humorous and informative documentary that shows the band as a live entity and also what goes on during their down time on tour; play-throughs, interviews, concert chaos, Euro-tourism and more. We hope you enjoy it!”

If you are the sort of person who doesn’t even feel squeamish or register an emotional shift when you see Nick from Fear The Walking Dead pushing a cart full of zombie heads, chances are you will feel a twinge of happiness in the bowels of your darkened soul pit as you hear “Red Before Black” by mighty death metal kings Cannibal Corpse for the first time. The song is probably their most immediate anthem of recent years since “Priests Of Sodom”, just an undeniable moment for the band from the opening note.

Igorrr European Tour dates, live footage from Dour Festival

Posted by Morgan Ywain Evans on Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at 8:39 AM (PST)

Igorrr– the brainchild of French musician and eclectic composer Gautier Serre – certainly made one of the greatest, zaniest and most inspired albums of the year with Savage Sinusoid. Now you can witness the band’s delightful array of various insanities live as they are setting out on a European tour, or watch new footage of their recent performance at the Dour Festival.

Gautier Serre comments: “We’re very excited to take the road for almost two months and to play this music all over Europe. Performing this music provokes always very interesting reactions – some people get it, others don’t. While we are deep into it with the band, it’s going to be a strong experience for sure.”

Nitrus Oxide is not included but we do have dates and live footage BELOW.

Cannibal Corpse “Red Before Black” album details and pre orders.

Posted by Morgan Ywain Evans on Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at 9:46 AM (PST)

On November 3rd, kings of death metal Cannibal Corpse will release their 14th full-length, Red Before Black, via Metal Blade Records. This is their best album title in awhile. A Skeletal Domain was cool and all but the cover art was more haunting and didn’t really give the sense of mayhem as well as this cover. The title Red Before Black also just sounds like it is gonna be classic while having more imagination than, say, KILL. Hahaha.

For a first preview of Red Before Black, the band has launched a video for the single, “Code of the Slashers”. Directed by Zev Deans (www.panoramaprogramming.com – who created videos for Behemoth‘s “Messe Noire”, Ghost‘s “Square Hammer”, Portal‘s “Curtain”), “Code of the Slashers” can be viewed at: metalblade.com/cannibalcorpse

You gotta have respect for Artillery.

The veteran Danish power thrashers have just released a new video for the song “When The Magic Is Gone”, taken off the band’s latest album, Penalty By Perception. To watch the video, please visit HERE.

Artillery comments: “Our new video ‘When The Magic Is Gone’ is a song about death and grief, it is a very personal song which shows the more mellow side of Artillery. The video was recorded in Norrebro, Copenhagen by Terkel Christensen (Aggressive Art) who is an old friend of Artillery.”

On Sept. 23rd, Artillery will start their co-headline tour with Onslaught. Artillery will celebrate the 30th Anniversary of their Terror Squad album on this run, playing 5-6 songs from that album, plus new songs from their latest album Penalty By Perception, as well as some more classics. Ensiferum release live acoustic “Two Of Spades” video

Posted by Metal Riot on Sunday, September 10, 2017 at 9:09 PM (PST)

On September 15th, Ensiferum will release their anticipated seventh full-length, Two Paths, worldwide via Metal Blade Records. Produced by Anssi Kippo, the master was recorded on tape. In anticipation of this sure to add to their already hearty legacy release, the band has now launched a fun live acoustic version of “Two of Spades” for their true fans (from their previous album, One Man Army). Frankly, this performance, especially the sing-a-long at the end is friggin’ awesome.
