The impending release of Mastodon‘s CD/DVD “Live at the Aragon” has spurred many inside looks at the wonders within. The latest offering is a performance of the title track from their 2009 release, “Crack The Skye.” I had a chance to see them on this tour and it was aesthetically amazing. Their stage and video show was unparalleled to anything I have seen.

“Live at The Aragon” is available on March 15 from Reprise Records. Mastodon is now working on their fifth studio album, due out later this year.

System of a Down frontman Serj Tankian has been a busy guy while the band was on hiatus. He has released three solo CDs, “Elect the Dead” in 2007 and “Imperfect Harmonies” in 2010. Now comes in 2011, “Imperfect Remixes,” a four song EP of new interpretations of “Harmonies.” Rage Against The Machine‘s Tom Morello guest stars on “Goodbye-Gate 21 (rock remix)” and “Reconstructive Demonstrations.” “Imperfect Harmonies” was released March 1, 2011 on Reprise/ Serjical Strike Records.

As far as SOAD goes, the band is currently planing a North American tour in 2011.

If you happened to miss doom metallers Mastodon in 2009 while on tour, their upcoming “Live at the Aragon” CD/DVD is for you. The show was mostly fueled by songs from their most recent recording, “Crack the Skye.” In accompaniment to those songs, a stunning video and light show eerily tells the story of the album.

“Ghost of Karelia” is taken from “Live at the Aragon” DVD and the dual package will be available March 15th on Reprise.

Disturbed serves cease and desist letter to Campbell County attorney

Posted by Lucas Riot on Thursday, October 28, 2010 at 6:05 PM (PST)

DisturbedYesterday an attorney for David Draiman and Dan Donegan, of Chicago rock band Disturbed, sent a letter to Campbell County Attorney James A. Daley, based in Newport, Kentucky, ordering him to immediately cease and desist distributing all copies of a flyer printed with photographed images of Draiman and Donegan.

The politically motivated flyer, which attacks Steve Franzen, Daley’s opponent for the County Attorney’s office in the November 2nd election, contains text implying that the individuals in the photos are “criminals” who have engaged in “child pornography, unlawful transactions with minors, assaults on police officers, and drug trafficking.” In addition to photos of Draiman and Donegan, the flyer features photos of members of rock bands Avenged Sevenfold and Stone Sour.

Disturbed’s attorney has demanded that Daley immediately stop distributing the flyer and destroy any remaining copies in his possession.

Over the last two days, the band’s management office has received dozens of phone calls and e-mails from fans in the area who received the flyer, expressing their outrage.

WLWT News 5 in Cincinnati has reported on the flyer and interviewed Daley’s opponent Steve Franzen, who calls it “despicable.” Read the story and watch the News 5 segment here: http://www.wlwt.com/politics/25544680/detail.html.

Although details were vague, Draiman writes,

“We’ll be doing two legs of “Music As A Weapon” after the New Year with a lineup that I cannot yet reveal. But just know that the what I should say is the co-headliner for the tour is massive. And it’s going to be appearing in a union that I think hard rock and heavy metal fans have been wanting to happen for awhile. It has happened before, but only in brief stints. Now it’s gonna happen for the duration of a two-leg-long tour. And we’re gonna join forces with a leviathan. And we’re really looking forward to it.”

There you have it. Stay tuned for more tour information as it becomes available.
