New Video: Shining – “Förtvivlan, Min Arvedel”

Sweden’s extreme metallers Shining has released their first music video in the band’s 15 year history. The video is for the track “Förtvivlan, Min Arvedel,” taken from the new album “VII / Född Förlorare,” released May 11th on Spinefarm Records.

The band commented on the video:

“We know we are going to get heavily criticized for some of the scenes” commented front man and founder Niklas Kvarforth, “but it’s nothing more than you will see as soon as you switch on a television or watch a move, or walk down a city street come to that. But we’re Shining and it’s always open season on Shining when it comes to people who have neither understood, nor taken the time to try and understand, where the band is coming from.”

Finnish power metallers Amoral announced that they will be releasing their first single “Same Difference” on May 17th, from their upcoming album “Beneath.” The hard rock/metal hybrid “Same Difference” gives a little taste of things to come on the upcoming album, due for release in October via Spinefarm Records.

Guitarist Ben Varon commented on the single:

“Same Difference is one of my favorite tracks off the new album. Ari (Koivunen, vocals) sounds better than ever on it, and the back-to-back leads with our new guitarist Masi Hukari is something new for us. Hard rockin’, lots of riffs and big choruses, just like we like it!”

Same Difference will be available as a digital single from the iTunes Store.

Children of Bodom Announces North American Headling Tour

Hard partying (and harder rocking) Finnish band Children of Bodom (or COB) has announced a North American headlining tour in support of their just released new album “Relentless Reckless Forever” which landed at #41 on the Billboard Top 200 in its first week of release. Brought to you by Guitar World and Revolver, the month long summer tour will kick off in Los Angeles on June 24 and run through July 24 in Montreal where COB will perform alongside KISS, Motörhead and more as part of the “Heavy MTL” hard rock festival.

Video: Amaranthe “Hunger” Video From Upcoming Album “Amaranthe”

Swedish/Danish melodic death metal amalgam Amaranthe has posted a music video online for the song “Hunger” off their upcoming self-titled debut album which is set to release in Europe on April 13th on Spinefarm Records.

Amaranthe released a 4-track demo EP “Leave Everything Behind” in 2008 and since had to change their name from Avalanche due to legal issues.

Children of Bodom announce new album “Relentless Reckless Forever”

Finnish metallers Children of Bodom have announced the release date for their seventh studio album “Relentless Reckless Forever” which will hit shelves on March 8th 2011. Recorded in Finland’s Petrax Studios with rock producer Matt Hyde (Slayer, Monster Magnet) “Relentless Reckless Forever” will be released on Universal Records.

“Relentless Reckless Forever” will be the first follow up to 2008’s “Blooddrunk” which debuted at #22 on Billboard’s Top 200 Chart and  the third consecutive #1 debut in Finland for COB.

Frontman Alexi Laiho states: “We worked super hard on this album, at least for me it was pretty much no sleep or rest for six weeks, but we were determined to make the best COB album ever, so we were willing to do whatever it took. Of course, having our producer Matt Hyde kicking our asses 24/7 definitely made the results even better, so obviously we’re more than anxious to get this album out there”

Children of Bodom announce “The Ugly World Tour 2011”

Finland’s finest five-piece extreme metal band Children of Bodom start the new year off with a nice break from their U.S. tour and pack up again in March for the beginning of a massive tour across Europe. The schedule spans two months and crosses the borders of 23 countries. Children of Bodom released “Skeletons From the Closet” on Spinefarm Records in 2009.

Finland’s Ensiferum and Sweden’s Machinae Supremacy are the openers and tour mates for the duration of the dates. Amon Amarth will grace the stage for the British shows as well.

Children of Bodom team up with top skateboarders for new music video

Children of Bodom's Alexi LaihoFinnish Heavy Metal band Children of Bodom which features frontman and modern day guitar hero Alexi Laiho just wrapped shooting on a high energy music video for the brand new song “Was it Worth It?”.  In the video, COB joined forces with two-time X Games gold medalist and two-time Thrasher Magazine “Skater of the Year” Chris Cole as well as noted pro skaters Jamie Thomas and Tom Asta (the current #1 Amateur skateboarder in the world).  “Was it Worth It?” will appear on Children of Bodom’s as-yet-untitled seventh studio album, which is slated for a spring, 2011 release via Universal Music.
