Corrosion Of Conformity confirm “Eye For An Eye” reissue release date

Posted by Fireball13 on Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at 1:19 PM (PST)

Candlelight Records and North Carolina heavy metallers Corrosion Of Conformity have confirmed that November 6th will be the North American release date of Eye For An Eye. This special reissue has been remastered/packaged and includes the EP Six Songs With Mike Singing. Both titles have been out of print for years.

A deluxe digibook edition of the album, limited to 1000 for North America, will be available at limited retailers and via Candlelight’s official webstore. The digibook version includes extended liner notes and a rare pictorial gallery.

Twenty-six songs showcase the early sonic years of the band. Far more punk than their later recordings, the album found an immediate fanbase. Originally released in 1984, Eye for An Eye featured the original lineup of Weatherman, Dean, drummer Reed Mullin, and vocalist Eric Eycke. Reissued to incorporate the 1989 EP by Mike Dean (who left the band between 1987-1992), Eye for An Eye is raw in sound but focused on message. The years that followed would see the band rise to worldwide popularity with breakthrough and Billboard-charting releases Blind and Deliverance.

“We had a lot of fun doing it and it’s great to have this album officially back out there again,” says Weatherman. “I had basically written this off as being our sloppy beginner’s effort but listening to it now, I really hear a few songs that hold up well,” adds Dean.

Daylight Dies releasing upcoming album “A Frail Becoming”

Posted by Fireball13 on Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at 8:01 AM (PST)

North Carolina metalcore band Daylight Dies will be releasing a new album this Fall. Candlelight Records confirms that October 9th is the set release date for A Frail Becoming. The album silences a nearly four-year writing gap from the band.

“A Frail Becoming is an album which, at many times during its creation, felt as if it may never be realized,” states drummer Jesse Haff. “As each of our lives proceeded down different paths, the challenges and obstacles we faced felt daunting and at times impassible. Out of this struggle we forged ahead, determined to write the best collection of music we’ve ever created. Thankfully our perseverance prevailed and A Frail Becoming stands as the most accomplished and varied album of our career.

While still sounding distinctly DAYLIGHT DIES, each song stands independently on its own, uncompromisingly representing a reflection of the moment in time they were each born in. Expect beautiful and haunting guitar-driven dark metal, enveloped by a wall of rhythms and textures one minute, and deeply expressive guitar leads, solos and acoustic passages the next.”

Recording of the new album started in late 2011. Bassist/vocalist Egan O’Rourke coordinated capturing individual performances of drummer Jesse Haff, guitarists Barre Gambling and Charley Shackelford and vocalist Nathan Ellis. By the end of the year, the tracks were ready for Jens Bogren’s impressive and critical touches. The album was mixed by Bogren at Fascination Street Studios (Opeth, Katatonia, Devin Townsend) and features photography from award-winning Jonathan Mehring and packaging design by Agni Kaster.

Fear Factory announces new drummer

Posted by tyrusrunyan on Friday, April 20, 2012 at 10:47 AM (PST)

Fear Factory has confirmed that Mike Heller has replaced drummer Gene Hoglan who had stepped down due to “conflicting obligations.” It would appear that Dino Cazares enlisted the help of Sick Drummer Magazine to help find a replacement as is evidenced in the following article which was posted on their site:

Due to conflicting obligations, Gene Hoglan recently had to step down from the Fear Factory throne, leaving it open for replacement. Dino Cazares came to us a while ago and asked if Sick Drummer Magazine could help the band find the ideal guy, and we were more than happy to make several suggestions, some of which actually flew out and auditioned in person. There were many amazing players auditioned in person and via video submission, but it had to unfortunately come down to only one guy.

Dino, Burton C. Bell and Matt DeVries want to personally thank each and every guy who spent time learning the songs and to let you know this was one of the hardest decicions they have ever had to make, but in the end… Mike Heller was just the best fit for Fear Factory moving forward. Mike’s abilities on the kit, transcribing notation, his feel, power and precision, are some of the best they have ever seen and they are very excited to welcome him to the Fear Factory camp.

Here is what Mike Heller had to say about joining the band: “It is an incredible honor to be chosen as the new drummer for Fear Factory! It’s something I never would have dreamt of as a kid listening to “Soul of A New Machine” and “Demanufacture” over and over again in middle school. It’s also an incredible honor to be following in the footsteps of two of the most amazing and influential drummers in metal drumming history. I hope to continue their legacy, creating some of the most forward-thinking and innovative music available today.”

You may know Mike Heller for his work with Malignancy or more recently, System Divide. Regardless of what you know, Mike is one of the most talented drummers we know, as well as one of the best drum teachers in the industry. Mike himself studied at The Collective School of Music in NYC and has since instructed countless industry professionals and worked with them (on and off tour) to improve their technique, overcome muscle issues, gain control and a myriad of other characteristics of being a pro drummer. He is a super nice guy and an avid collector of drum gear! Aside from his regular playing, we can honestly say he is the most talented linear player we’ve ever seen and want to say congratulations and good luck!
