Nightwish announce release date and cover art for upcoming album “Imaginaerum”

Posted by Michelle on Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at 10:03 AM (PST)

Nightwish have announced that their new album “Imaginaerum” will be released in Finland on 30th November and then throughout the rest of Europe on the 2nd of December.

This will be the band’s first release through their new label after signing with Nuclear Blast Records in Germany last month.

The album cover art was done by artist Toxic Angel and this is what Tuomas Holopainen, the band’s keyboardist and songwriter, had to say about the artwork.

“Originally, this was supposed to be the centerfold image of the album but once I and some mates saw the final image, we immediately knew that the hunt for the actual cover artwork was over. I believe this is Toxic Angel’s finest piece of work yet, capturing the deepest essence of what Imaginaerum is all about. The power of imagination and places of wordless wonders, magic and awe, of longing and the surreal. I emphasized from the start that not a single living thing should be seen in the picture, and Toxic was able to create that sublime but desolate, “all this waiting for you, and you only” – feeling. All you need is the courage to enter”.

Nightwish re-sign with Nuclear Blast Records

Posted by Michelle on Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at 11:36 AM (PST)

Finnish rockers Nightwish have signed a new record deal with the German based label Nuclear Blast Records.

The band are set to release their next full length album, “Imaginarium” through the label in December this year.

Bandleader Tuomas Holopainen comments on the signing:

“We are very happy to continue working with the Nuclear Bast family! Our collaboration started on a friendship basis and continues to do so. I was utterly happy and relieved to see they truly understood what “Imaginarium” is all about, and we seem to share similar profound enthusiasm towards it. I feel privileged working with such people who, despite the infinite maze of business they must handle properly, still have a huge heart for Music itself. ”

Andy Siry, head Of A&R and label manager of Nuclear Blast added,

“We are very happy that Nightwish and Nuclear Blast Records can continue as a team. Nightwish became the biggest success of our label and everyone in the band, their management and crew also became trustful and close friends. For us, it is a pleasure to work with such highly gifted musicians and a genius like Tuomas Holopainen, as a songwriter and composer. We also thank KingFoo Management for their belief and the great relationship between all of us. We are looking forward to the next releases with the band, starting with the upcoming masterpiece “Imaginarium” which is another big step for this visionary band and which is simply outstanding and brilliant.”

The band last released “Dark Passion Play” in September of 2007 on Nuclear Blast. It was the first album without long-time singer Tarja Turunen.

Ten albums released and the end of the saga represent, musically and lyrically, an important artistic goal finally reached, underlined by the success of our last release “From Chaos To Eternity”, for which we want to thank our wonderful fans once again. Now it came the time when new artistic stimulations need to be found, in respect of both parts’ visions and perspectives and of our longtime friendship.”

Jag Panzer disbands

Posted by katstat on Monday, July 25, 2011 at 1:10 PM (PST)

After more than three decades of delivering heavy metal to the masses, Jag Panzer have decided to call it quits.

We are proud of every album we released and the support we’ve received from the heavy metal community, states guitarist and founder Mark Briody. We’ve played so many places around the world and enjoyed every minute of it but the time has come where we just cannot move forward as a band.

Guitarist Christian Lasegue left the band last month to pursue his degree full time.  Christian did an amazing job on “The Scourge of the Light” and it was a pleasure working with him, continues Briody. We wished Christian well but kept this quiet until we found a replacement.

Drummer Rikard Stjernquist says, Several guitar players applied for the job. It was a pleasant surprise to see so many young guitarists with advanced chops. One player, 19 year old Jake Dreyer, submitted videos of him nailing solos from both Chris Broderick and Christian Lasegue. We were ready to welcome Jake into the band but unfortunately that will not happen. There is no doubt in any of our minds that Jake will go on to be a household name in his own right.

Bassist John Tetley adds a final statement: In closing, we’d like to send out a huge heartfelt THANK YOU to metal fans throughout the world. You all rule!
