Parisian Post-metal duo ALCEST has announced a fall North American headlining tour. The critically-lauded group, called “half-gauze, half-iron” by The New York Times, will launch the month-long trek on September 19 in Mexico City. The scheduled 23-city, major market jaunt will run through October 17 in Philadelphia, PA. Support on the ALCEST tour will come from singer-songwriter and visual artist Emma Ruth Rundle. ALCEST continues to perform globally in support of its most recent album, Shelter, which has been hailed as “capable of great feats of mood and beauty” by Pitchfork and “intoxicating” by Rolling Stone.

“We are very happy to announce that Alcest will tour in Mexico and North America in September and October of 2015,” comments Neige. “It’s been three years since we played in North America as headliners, so we are very excited to be back. Our support guest on this tour will be the talented Emma Ruth Rundle (Marriages, Red Sparrowes). Be sure to catch us on one of these dates!”

220px-AlcestYour favorite blackgaze band, Alcest, have just announced that they’ll be touring throughout Europe next spring in support of their upcoming record, Shelter, which doesn’t have a release date yet.

The band said on their facebook: “”We will be accompanied by our friends from Hexvessel, the Finnish folk/psychedelic sorcerers whom we’ve played with several times already. Also with us will be the Fauns, a great shoegaze/dream pop act from UK, signed on Impavida, the label runned by Geoff Barrow (Portishead). We worked a lot on this package to make it as diverse and interesting as possible and hope you will enjoy it!”

MR Staff Picks: Top Albums of January 2012 (MetalRiotJD)

Posted by JDKleinhans on Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at 10:07 PM (PST)

This is one hell of a start to a new year. Usually I’m not enamored with an album until the first thaw of the Midwest winter, but not this year my fellow cretins. Mind you I haven’t listened to every single album that has come out this month. Who has that kind of time!? I wish I did.

Anyway, I’m rambling. Head on over here to see what I boldly declare as this month’s top metal albums. Let the harassing criticism begin!
