Music Video: Mortad – “The Voice”

Posted by tyrusrunyan on Friday, April 20, 2012 at 11:31 AM (PST)

Female fronted UK thrash band Mortad has released a video for the song “The Voice” off their February 2012 debut album The Myth of Purity. The album was released with the February copy of Metal Hammer Magazine and will have a more official release date later on this year.

“The Voice” is dedicated Neda Agha Soltan who was killed in Iran during the protests of the 2009 Iranian Presidential Election outcome. The images and lyrics are pretty powerful and Mortad frontwoman Somi Arian had the following comments:

“Lyrically, ‘The Voice’ is the most important song in ‘The Myth Of Purity’ album, also the only song that contains some Persian lyrics. I felt that I had something to say, I want to be ‘the voice’ of the voiceless and to honour the memory of thousands of men and women who lost their lives in a battle to revive the basic human rights for others.”

London based, Iranian female fronted metal band Mortad have released a music video for the song “Waste Of My Rage” AND a lyric video for the song “All That’s Born Must Be Destroyed”.  The video for “Waste Of My Rage” has actually been out for a while but we never reported on it, so why not throw it in for good measure?

The tracks are taken off their debut album The Myth of Purity which was released in February 2012.  You can see the videos right here.

The Myth of Purity was recorded in October 2011 with producer Russ Russell (Napalm Death, Dimmu Borgir, Evile) and released with the February 2012 issue of Metal Hammer Magazine.
