Cult Cinema Discuss Debut Album, Iscariot

Posted by JDKleinhans on Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at 4:38 PM (PST)

March’s week 1 Cover Art Battle Winner Cult Cinema took a moment to talk about their debut album, Iscariot.

Bassist Trev comments: “Firstly, thank you for featuring the artwork for our EP on your website, that’s awesome.

The music for the EP was part of a very lengthy writing process that started a few years back (before Cult Cinema was born). One of the key focuses for us was to make some really dark, miserable and epic music (a lofty ambition!) It was Ivan who really fed off of the music we had written and connected with it in a way we (the rest of the band) previously hadn’t. Ivan created the concept for the record, he really ‘got’ the music and the whole thing started to come together. There was now a conceptual thread running through the music that I feel influenced how we wanted things to sound and feel, and how we perform the music live and in the studio during recording.

We commissioned Sin-eater for the job once we had a vision for EP as we felt he would really riff off the concept that Ivan was driving at. He did, and we love the artwork he created and we’re happy to hear other people like it, he’s a fantastic artist.

Thanks for taking an interest in our weird little band.

Stay tuned for the upcoming March Ultimate Cover Art Championship and help Cult Cinema’s Iscariot make it to the 2012 Championship round.
