Check out Hawk Vs Dove‘s new rebuilt Facebook band page HERE. Citing Earth, Jesus Lizard, Boris and Butthole Surfers as influences, they are one of the best kept rock n blues metal secrets in Texas. HVD have shared stages with MothershipHarvey Milk and more. Check out their self released beast of a new record Divided States HERE.

File this under taste, riffs and class. Somebody like Last Hurrah, Tee Pee, Ripple or Small Stone should re-release this on vinyl in a perfect world.

Album Review: Hawk Vs. Dove – “Self-Titled”

Posted by Morgan Y Evans - Walking Bombs on Friday, August 24, 2012 at 10:58 AM (PST)

Hawk Vs. Dove (from Dallas, TX) prove that good talent can still rise up in the underground seemingly out of the blue. In truth, the members of this band have been playing in the scene for years in various underground bands like Stew! and Hello, Lover. Still, the fresh energy and power of Hawk Vs. Dove is sure to make new fans of open minded, hard working hard rock. These guys are fans of everything from Lightning Bolt to ZZ Top.

In the Grunge days it wasn’t unheard of for straight-forward rock songs to also show innovation, and that is the case with this debut. It’s a great balance of familiar and edgy. “The Sabbath” is Alice In Chains meets Harvey Milk in all the right ways. They would fit so well on Small Stone Records it makes me smile, and I hope someone at that label reads this!

Hawk Vs. Dove release debut full length.

Dallas, TX sludge/noise disciples Hawk Vs. Dove have independently released their anticipated self-titled debut HERE. Crack a cold one and go listen! HvD rock!

These guys kick and have an unprecedented balance between melody and mud that is explosive (and rare). Fans of metal, grunge and just plain confrontational howling will dig this. Soundgarden, Jesus Lizard, Seed, Gates Of Slumber, Harvey Milk or Conan would all vibe well with these guys.

Hawk Vs. Dove, the newest sludge sensation from the one and only Dallas, TX , have exciting news and a brand new single called “The Sabbath”. Kind of sounds like Alice In Chains on a slow burn date with Harvey Milk (the band, not the historical figure). They are rad.

The band released a statement on their Facebook page: “Our self titled debut album will be available for download next week. Until then you can hear one of the tracks from said album HERE. We’re very pleased with the way all of the tunes have turned out, and we can’t wait to get the rest of them out for all to hear. Enjoy.”
