BESVÄRJELSEN cover AC/DC and thus prove life is good

Posted by Morgan Y Evans - Walking Bombs on Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at 6:41 PM (PST)

BESVÄRJELSEN from Sweden fuckin’ bring the vibes so hard and are simply one of the coolest bands in the modern world. Today they have seriously tipped the coolness scales even further in their favor with a solid take on a stone cold classic, “Back In Black.”

This cover is from the forthcoming MER Redux Series installment “Back in Black [Redux]. The record also features fuckin’ Red Fang, Supersuckers (!!), Heavy Temple, Earthride, Whores. and more!

Lea Amling Alazam comments: “A boyfriend gave me a ‘Let There Be Rock’ CD when I was 15 years old and I got immediately hooked”, writes the singer. “I longed to see AC/DC live, and in 2009 they were set to play in Stockholm. I sat on my skateboard outside the ticket venue for 12 hours in the shittiest weather just to get a ticket. The show was amazing, one of the best evenings in my life. Front row headbanger! When I found out that we were going to cover ‘Back in Black’, I wanted to cry, both happy and sad tears. Such an iconic, amazing rock song, and I’ve ruined it many times at karaoke. The thought of having to record it and not living up to… well, how do you even do it? I wanted to honour Brian’s bluesy vocal with a rusty stoned vibe and yeah, I don’t know, it turned out freakin’ great!”

AC/DC release “Realize” single

Posted by Morgan Y Evans - Walking Bombs on Thursday, November 12, 2020 at 7:07 AM (PST)

Nothing to scratch your head at here, just the feel good news that AC/DC are indeed back with the second single “Realize” from their impending monster new album Power Up (out November 13th). I keep thinking of PWR BTTM when I see the PWR/UP stuff online, but whatever. The music is as utilitarian yet grand in bluesy, gritty scope as ever. Sure, there is a song called “Through The Mists Of Time”, which sounds like a Maiden or Rhapsody Of Fire song title, but you can’t blame the lads for getting a bit misty eyed or nostalgic in their old age. Still, this is no bullshit, true rock n’ roll.

While I haven’t been crazy about the album titles for the last few releases from the band, there is no questioning that the music still packs the punch and distinctive qualities the group are legendary for. The follow-up to 2014’s Rock Or Bust features AC/DC‘s 2020 lineup of Brian Johnson (vocals), Phil Rudd (drums), Cliff Williams (bass), Angus Young (guitar) and Stevie Young (guitar).

Power Up was recorded over a six-week period in August and September 2018 at Warehouse Studios in Vancouver with producer Brendan O’Brien. Having this exist in a miserable 2020 is downright fucking heartwarming news.

Kick back and enjoy the sound of some real veteran pros doing what they do best with a touch (but not too much) of modern slickness, but not too much greasing of the wheel. This is just good, workmanlike stadium level songwriting (with a slight touch of “Thunderstruck” melodic call back in the backing melody). God bless AC/DC and rock n roll.

RIP Malcolm Young.

AC/DC is hard rock gospel, despite being on a ‘Highway To Hell’. Thank you Malcolm Young for co-founding one of the most kick ass bands of all time. Take some time today to blast some AC/DC. Any neighbor who gets pissed off at that is a total wanker anyway and not worth wasting politeness on.

Young died surrounded by family and will be missed by thousands upon thousands of people.

AC/DC’s ‘High Voltage’ Turns 40!

Posted by longhairedpoet on Friday, April 22, 2016 at 5:45 PM (PST)

High Voltage celebrates the 40th anniversary of its international release on April 30.

These past few years have been rough on the boys in AC/DC – and I know I don’t have to fill you in with all of the details.

All I have to say is as I listen to High Voltage I know that there’s nothing particularly rosey about AC/DC – and there never was.

Check out my full retrospective on this massive album here.

AC/DC “Rock Or Bust” listening party in NYC, RSVP now

Posted by Morgan Y Evans - Walking Bombs on Friday, November 14, 2014 at 12:45 PM (PST)

The AC/DC Rock or Bust Playback Party is coming to the Webster Hall on Tuesday November 18th!

You can be one of the first to hear Rock or Bust, nab and/or witness special surprises and more. Hopefully no one will get busted and it will be more rock than bust, heh heh.

All attendants will receive a limited edition commemorative t-shirt, as well as a chance to win prize packages including a signed Angus Young Guitar . I’m gonna stop with the arrest jokes now cuz I love this band and it is a real shame about Malcolm’s dementia, sadly overshadowed somewhat by Rudd’s tabloid exploits of late. Still, AC/DC are Godly, even if I hate Walmart.

Anyway, to attend the official AC/DC Rock or Bust Playback Party, RSVP at

Phil Rudd charges mostly dropped

Like any good hard rock wag, I deeply love me some AC/DC. they are kind of the perfect band. No frills, just rock. It was distressing yesterday as a fan when charges against Phil Rudd for allegedly trying to hire a hitman surfaced. We really don’t want this to become a trend. Anyhow, the bulk of charges have been dropped due to insufficient evidence. It is all kind of confusing.

Rudd is still charged with threatening to kill someone and possession of methamphetamine and cannabis. Weed is medicine and should be legal for everyone. Meth…eh, not so much. He is out on bail and will return to court on November 27. He faces seven years in jail, if he is convicted of the threat.

Phil Rudd, WTF?

Posted by Morgan Y Evans - Walking Bombs on Thursday, November 6, 2014 at 1:26 PM (PST)

So, I’m just gonna link to the NY Times article about Phil Rudd of AC/DC trying to hire someone to kill two people. He must be the only one who endured the Lambesis tragedy and thought ,”hmmm, seems like a good way to get press.”

AC/DC don’t need press. They are already AC/DC!!! All poor taste jokes aside, this sucks on many levels. I’m gonna go back to pretending Mariano is still on the Yankees, that Chris Slade is in AC/DC (I always liked Simon Wright better in Dio) and that life isn’t a string of people shitting in your oatmeal.

Stories like this are too exhausting. I’m gonna go listen to Epica and escape for awhile.

This post is my 666th Metal Riot post, so I wanted to make it special. I was gonna just give it to Maiden and post “Number Of The Beast” or something but it’s gotta go to AC/DC in honor of Malcolm’s retirement. Thanks for the sheer brilliance, mate.  #highwaytohell

Turn this up, kids.

AC/DC to tour this year?

Posted by longhairedpoet on Friday, June 20, 2014 at 12:59 AM (PST)

Frontman/everyman Brian Johnson teased the idea of an AC/DC tour on his website, BrianJohnsonRacing.

He made a statement on his website, while thanking fans for the success of Cars That Rock:

“We hope to bring you more shows in the near future but, of course, there is the slight distraction of my day job with AC/DC – and it looks very likely that we will be on the road again before the end of the year. So stand by for more music – and more Cars That Rock. thanks – Brian”

Rumors of Malcom Young’s health issues suggested a possible indefinite pause for AC/DC, but it has since been annoucned that they have plans to record in Canada with Brendan O’Brien.

Back in April Johnson said, “We’re going to pick up guitars, have a plonk and see if anybody has got any tunes or ideas. If anything happens we’ll record it.”

Of course if the frontman’s words don’t do it for you, maybe this tweet from the official AC/DC twitter account will:
