AC/DC’s ‘High Voltage’ Turns 40!

Posted by longhairedpoet on Friday, April 22, 2016 at 5:45 PM (PST)

AC.DC

High Voltage celebrates the 40th anniversary of its international release on April 30.

These past few years have been rough on the boys in AC/DC – and I know I don’t have to fill you in with all of the details.

All I have to say is as I listen to High Voltage I know that there’s nothing particularly rosey about AC/DC – and there never was.

Check out my full retrospective on this massive album here.

AC/DC “Rock Or Bust” listening party in NYC, RSVP now

Posted by Morgan Ywain Evans on Friday, November 14, 2014 at 12:45 PM (PST)

The AC/DC Rock or Bust Playback Party is coming to the Webster Hall on Tuesday November 18th!

You can be one of the first to hear Rock or Bust, nab and/or witness special surprises and more. Hopefully no one will get busted and it will be more rock than bust, heh heh.

All attendants will receive a limited edition commemorative t-shirt, as well as a chance to win prize packages including a signed Angus Young Guitar . I’m gonna stop with the arrest jokes now cuz I love this band and it is a real shame about Malcolm’s dementia, sadly overshadowed somewhat by Rudd’s tabloid exploits of late. Still, AC/DC are Godly, even if I hate Walmart.

Anyway, to attend the official AC/DC Rock or Bust Playback Party, RSVP at http://bit.ly/ACDCnyc

Phil Rudd charges mostly dropped

Like any good hard rock wag, I deeply love me some AC/DC. they are kind of the perfect band. No frills, just rock. It was distressing yesterday as a fan when charges against Phil Rudd for allegedly trying to hire a hitman surfaced. We really don’t want this to become a trend. Anyhow, the bulk of charges have been dropped due to insufficient evidence. It is all kind of confusing.

Rudd is still charged with threatening to kill someone and possession of methamphetamine and cannabis. Weed is medicine and should be legal for everyone. Meth…eh, not so much. He is out on bail and will return to court on November 27. He faces seven years in jail, if he is convicted of the threat.

Phil Rudd, WTF?

Posted by Morgan Ywain Evans on Thursday, November 6, 2014 at 1:26 PM (PST)

So, I’m just gonna link to the NY Times article about Phil Rudd of AC/DC trying to hire someone to kill two people. He must be the only one who endured the Lambesis tragedy and thought ,”hmmm, seems like a good way to get press.”

AC/DC don’t need press. They are already AC/DC!!! All poor taste jokes aside, this sucks on many levels. I’m gonna go back to pretending Mariano is still on the Yankees, that Chris Slade is in AC/DC (I always liked Simon Wright better in Dio) and that life isn’t a string of people shitting in your oatmeal.

Stories like this are too exhausting. I’m gonna go listen to Epica and escape for awhile.

My 666th Metal Riot post = “Highway To Hell”, Thanks Malcolm

This post is my 666th Metal Riot post, so I wanted to make it special. I was gonna just give it to Maiden and post “Number Of The Beast” or something but it’s gotta go to AC/DC in honor of Malcolm’s retirement. Thanks for the sheer brilliance, mate.  #highwaytohell

Turn this up, kids.

AC/DC to tour this year?

Frontman/everyman Brian Johnson teased the idea of an AC/DC tour on his website, BrianJohnsonRacing.

He made a statement on his website, while thanking fans for the success of Cars That Rock:

“We hope to bring you more shows in the near future but, of course, there is the slight distraction of my day job with AC/DC – and it looks very likely that we will be on the road again before the end of the year. So stand by for more music – and more Cars That Rock. thanks – Brian”

Rumors of Malcom Young’s health issues suggested a possible indefinite pause for AC/DC, but it has since been annoucned that they have plans to record in Canada with Brendan O’Brien.

Back in April Johnson said, “We’re going to pick up guitars, have a plonk and see if anybody has got any tunes or ideas. If anything happens we’ll record it.”

Of course if the frontman’s words don’t do it for you, maybe this tweet from the official AC/DC twitter account will:

AC/DC to release new album and tour next year?

Posted by Metal Dude on Sunday, August 26, 2012 at 1:33 PM (PST)

According to some sources, Australia’s Triple M has released some information about AC/DC‘s plans for next year. The station says Acca Dacca’s record company, Alberts, has “confirmed” that AC/DC will be touring behind a brand new album next year to mark their 40th anniversary.

James Young, who owns the Cherry Bar, the pub in AC/DC Lane in Melbourne, and who is also a bit of an insider in the AC/DC family, states, “Alberts, the record company that AC/DC have been signed to for 39 years, have confirmed that AC/DC will be touring behind a brand new album next year”

You can listen to the interview at this location.

AC/DC’s last studio album, Black Ice, was released back in October 2008 on Columbia Records.
