Italy’s premiere Goth Rock export Lacuna Coil have released a new video from Broken Crown Halo‘s latest batch of songs. Perhaps the most well known Century Media act, Lacuna Coil once again create a visual world that is both moody and somewhat mysterious. Plus as usual it has a great big hooky chorus.

Album Review: Lacuna Coil – Broken Crown Halo

Posted by Morgan Y Evans - Walking Bombs on Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at 1:05 PM (PST)

Italy’s biggest hard rock export Lacuna Coil are one of the more polarizing bands in metal, which in their case is a good thing. Unlike 5FdonkeyPunch who polarize because they are genuinely terrible, Lacuna Coil tend to split opinion in the metal scene because they are really good at incorporating pop hooks and
at one point were a bit heavier. Maybe this is cause for complaint in some circles, but  let’s take a closer look here. Broken Crown Halo is just as good as, and actually better, then generally well regarded Karmacode, if maybe not breakout seller Comalies.

“We’ve come to far to give up who we are” sings Christina Scabbia on “Nothing Stands In Our Way”. The song also features some of the heaviest growled vocals from Andrea Ferro in some time. Lacuna Coil know who they are and if you don’t like it, your loss. Scabbia continues to have impressive pipes and the ability to pull of gothic pop mixed with darker nu metal and generally mid tempo hard rock, plus a congenial personality that fans love. Broken Crown Halo finds the group really synthesizing the poppier side they introduced on the excellent Don Gimlore produced Shallow Life (my personal favorite from the band because they stretched their sound and had more uplifting lyrics, though I am in the minority) with their earlier, heavier sound. Dark Adrenaline started this melding but Black Crown Halo perfects the process.

Lacuna Coil lose two band members

Posted by Morgan Y Evans - Walking Bombs on Saturday, February 15, 2014 at 6:50 AM (PST)

Via the Lacuna Coil Facebook:

Dear friends,

It is with a heavy heart that we share this news with you today: Our two brothers Cris ‘Pizza’ Migliore and Cristiano ‘CriZ’ Mozzati have decided to retire from LACUNA COIL.

Both Pizza and CriZ have had big changes impact their lives recently – we know how stressful and difficult it can be to balance both real life and the life of a professional touring musician, and we have nothing but total respect for their decisions to focus on their families and lives at home.

We have such incredible memories of traveling and exploring the world together with Pizza and CriZ, and we want to wish them both all the best as they begin these exciting new chapters in their lives. We will never forget the important roles they played in this band, or the incredible times we shared together.

Cristina, Andrea, Marco, and Maus.

Album Review: Lacuna Coil – “Dark Adrenaline”

Posted by JDKleinhans on Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at 12:21 AM (PST)

I discovered Italy’s Lacuna Coil in 2002 shortly after their third full-length release, Comalies. I became an instant fan. That was almost 10 years ago and since then there have been a multitude of bands that have attempted to capture that gothic sound that has become associated with not only Lacuna Coil but with bands such as Evanescence, Nightwish, Leaves’ Eyes, and the list goes on and on and on and on…. unfortunately. I’m going to be brutally honest, in these past 10 years, the gothic metal scene has become overrun with a host of shitty bands that get attention and airplay due to appearance rather than substance in a tween revered society consumed with visual aesthetics and obsessed with a generation of vampires and werewolves that would be nothing but a first course appetizer for the denizens of the dark gothic era in which I grew up in.

Shit. I’m starting to sound like an old man. Thus, it begins…

But, I digress!

My real concern is this: can Lacuna save this floundering metal sound from the diabolical clutches of our pampered and clueless youth!? Find the answer here.

Italian gothic metallers, Lacuna Coil, have released a music video for their song “Trip The Darkness” off their upcoming album “Dark Adrenaline.” This is the first single off the album.

To check out the video click here.

The new album will be released January 24th, 2012 through Century Media.
