Guns N’ Roses announce 8 new US Tour Dates

Posted by Morgan Y Evans - Walking Bombs on Monday, June 17, 2019 at 7:08 AM (PST)

GNR have announced new tour dates Stateside for Not In This Lifetime. I am real tempted to sell a leg and get to the Florida date somehow so I can croon along to “Sorry” and “Civil War”, as I have still never gotten to see the band live. Anyhow, new music is also rumored to be on the way and I hope it is in a classic/ hard rock vein like some of the stronger Chinese tracks such as “I.R.S.”, “Street Of Dreams” and “Chinese Democracy” more than the more experimental stuff. I am sure it is gonna have more bite anyway with the current line-up of OG legends and tour tested newer members who slugged it out and earned their keep.

Pre-sale for the new dates starts on June 18 at 10 a.m. local time, with V.I.P. packages available then. General sale begins on June 21 at 10 a.m. local time.
Newly announced tour dates:
Sep. 25 – Charlotte, NC @ Spectrum Center
Oct. 01 – Jacksonville, FL @ Vystar Veterans Memorial Arena
Oct. 07 – Wichita, KS @ Intrust Bank Arena
Oct. 15 – Lincoln, NE @ Pinnacle Bank Arena
Oct. 23 – Oklahoma City, OK @ Chesapeake Energey Arena
Oct. 29 – Salt Lake City, UT @ Vivint Smart Home Arena
Dec. 01 – Las Vegas, NV @ Collosseum at Ceasars Palace
Dec. 02 – Las Vegas, NV @ Collosseum at Ceasars Palace

In addition to the above-mentioned shows, GUNS N’ ROSES will make four U.S. festival appearances this fall — Louder Than Life, Austin City Limits, Exit 111 and Voodoo Music + Arts Experience.

Axl and Slash to reunite for Coachella

Earlier this year there were rumors that the original Guns N’ Roses line-up might be getting back together.

Turns out as of the most recent news, the reunion only includes Axl and Slash (Update: Duff as well, more TBA), playing Coachella in California from April 15-17 and April 22-24 with the ‘possibility’ of a stadium tour.

The tour could run as many as 25 dates in North America this summer.

There’s word that GNR has material in production. It took fifteen years between The Spaghetti Incident and Chinese Democracy, and there’s no indication of whether or not Slash or anyone else from the original line-up will be on that next album.

If you can afford to go to Coachella or can afford $200 bucks for a stadium-show, you’ll get to see Slash and Axl back together again.

Slash and Axl pals again? This is good news.

So I saw my buddy Tigman from 101.5 WPDH Poughkeepsie post on Facebook a Blabbermouth piece you should all see HERE.

I’m a die hard gunners fan (half of the new songs on my band GET OUT.’s pending hard rock/metal full length debut have high and low octave double tracked Axl influenced Appetite type vocal tricks utilized in the choruses). I also feel SLASH is one of the most entertaining books on rock n roll EVER written (along with Lemmy’s White Line Fever), just mandatory. And with all due respect to Myles Kennedy and Slash’s solo band or the recently departed from the Nu-Guns camp guys like Bumblefoot and Ashba, seeing Slash and Axl again someday would be amazing.

I’m not an Axl hater though I also understand why fans hate he is late for shows and wonder why for awhile there was a guy with a KFC bucket playing guitar. There was a reason why Against Me! classic Reinventing Axl Rose existed, but you also gotta remember that Axl EARNED his hubris. Dude went from a fucked up childhood to conquering the world… and I think it’s cool he stood up to the Hall of Fame and public pressure at the time for the Appetite line up to perform. While that would’ve been awesome and I understand why Adler was so disappointed, it also made sense in other ways for Rose to say “Hey, this is my band now.”  On the plus side, it appears Axl and Slash are friendly again.

I personally am bummed we didn’t get another record with Ashba but am thrilled Fortus and (honestly my fave Guns drummer besides Sorum) Frank Ferrer remain, as they play in The Compulsions (one of the best rock bands going) as well and just kick ass/have talent and vibe/class. I’d love to see Duff, Slash and the current line up meld or rotate Tommy Stinson and Duff or whatever like they have been doing. Maybe all of that is speculation but it’d be a cool way to bridge the old school and new school gap as older fans strictly hating on the Chinese Democracy-era band means missing out on some killer newer tunes like “I.R.S.” and one of Axl’s best ever songs “Street Of Dreams”. Even Slash said it was a good record when it came out.

Crack open some Night Train.

DJ Ashba exits Guns N’ Roses

Guns n Roses newest ex member is DJ Ashba. I for one am a big fan of the guy and despite his hat that everyone hated I think it’s really unfair to call him a Slash clone if you look at the dude’s whole career. Ashba wrote a long, heartfelt letter announcing his departure from Guns which you can read HERE.

While bassist Tommy Stinson stepped aside for 5 shows for some reunion gigs with former band The Replacements., Guns N Roses got a well known fill in.

Filling in for Tommy was none other than original bassist Duff, beginning on April 6 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and staying on for the remainder of the South American tour, including shows in Asuncion, Paraguay on April 9, La Paz, Bolivia on April 12, Recife, Brazil on April 15 and Fortaleza, Brazil on April 17.

Duff’s return saw many highlights, including the return of “Raw Power” and “Attitude” from The Spaghetti Incident  to the setlist, as well as opening with “You Could Be Mine” in Bolivia!  Click HERE for a video of “Live And Let Die” with Duff and more thoughts on GNR. This rules.

Nirvana : 20 years since the lights went out

Seriously…just watch this concert. Besides (ironically) Guns N Roses at the Freddie Mercury tribute concert, this is still my favorite live concert. I must have watched a bootleg VHS of this hundreds of times growing up and “Scentless Apprentice” is still the most monstrous squall to make a dent in the larger pop culture’s ever shifting bullshit hive mind. His lyrics were deeper and more poetic than much of what has come since, from “Been A Son” to the bizarre “Milk It”. And have you heard “Hairspray Queen” recently? Talk about anarchic sounds! There will never be another Nirvana…and that kinda sucks.

Guns N Roses guitarist Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal took part in a live chat from the 2013 National Fiery Foods and Barbecue Show, where he was asked if fans can expect another album in the future. He replied:

“You know what?! Just forget about a new record until it happens. I mean, I can’t even begin… How long have we been talking about a new fucking record? And I’m the only that doesn’t bullshit you people about it and I say, no, we haven’t been in the studio together; no, we haven’t started writing together as a band.

If something came out at this point, it would be very old material that is just being released now. So it would be unheard material, but to me, I don’t consider that a new record, I consider that just releasing old material from a band that doesn’t exist anymore. And we need to make an album of this band right now. And I hit up Axl again two days ago. I was, like, ‘Hey, while we’re in Australia, let’s make some music. Let’s work on some stuff.’ But we’ll see what happens.

I’m all about making music; that’s why I make music — to make music. So I’d like to really do that.I would be very happy if Guns N’ Roses could do that. We’ll see what happens. That’s all I can say. I mean, at this point, we’re just doing shows and doing shows and doing shows. And the shows are great and we’re having fun and everything. But I’ve got the itch. I’ve had the itch for a long fucking time. I wanna make some music with these motherfuckers. It’s a damn good band and we should really have the opportunity to give what we can to all of you, and make some music for you.

If anyone reads any of my long-ass interviews where I am ranting like I am right now, you know how I feel about it and that’s what I’m about. All I can say is, look, it’s not up to me. It’s gotta be unanimous, so I hope unanimously at some point everyone says, ‘Alright, let’s just put life to the side, everything to the side, and just focus on this and make it happen and make some music together.’ I think it would be fucking great, and I hope it happens.

But as far as seeing a new album in the future, I don’t see it in the near future, no. It’s gonna be a while — if it’s gonna be with this band writing from the beginning.

So, yeah, there’s reality for you. I wish I had something better I can tell you, guys, because we all want the same thing — we want new music; me and you.”

Chinese Democracy, the last Guns N’ Roses record, was released in November 2008 after many years of delays, writing and recording, and lineup changes.

According to a recent interview with former Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash, Scott Weiland is not in Stone Temple Pilots in anymore. Slash states that the reason Weiland has left STP is that he wants to rejoin Velvet Revolver, which also features Slash and two other former members of Guns N’ Roses (Duff McKagan and Matt Sorum). Slash clarifies:

“That’s because he got fired from STP. I think, all things considered, because these things always catch me by surprise, too, because I only find out about it through the media. I’m on the road in another country and I start hearing all this stuff, so I inquire within, and that’s what I was told.”

You can watch the interview here.

If confirmed, there is currently no indication whether Weiland’s departure from STP will affect the making of their next album or result in another break up. As for Velvet Revolver, they have been on a semi-hiatus since Weiland was fired from the band in 2008, but never found a permanent replacement for him.

Guns N’ Roses keyboardist Dizzy Reed recently spoke to The Jakarta Post about the band’s next album, hoping it won’t take another 10 years to deliver like Chinese Democracy did. He states:

“We had a lot of stuff that we haven’t finished from the past, some great songs… I just hope it won’t take us another 10 years.”

Man allegedly kills woman while singing Guns N’ Roses song

Posted by SeanB on Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at 8:43 AM (PST)

We really should have all seen this coming.  Although it’s a bit late as far as the year goes and a little surprising that it happened in California and not northern New England or down south, reportedly a man has killed his onetime girlfriend while singing along to the lyrics of the Guns N’ Roses song “Used To Love Her.”  Again, should have seen it coming.

Click here to see a video of said song.

So, a 48 year old man by the name of Thomas Michael Wilhelm allegedly drank a bunch of pills down with some vodka, stole his neighbors handgun (by the way, what kind of asshole doesn’t keep his guns locked up???) and shot his ex.  Reportedly the two had dated before and were now business partners.  Although this is obviously tragic and no one deserves to die, one has to wonder, what did she do to make this dude go Syd Barrett shit crazy on her and sing a fucking GNR song while killing her?

Axl says there will be no Guns N’ Roses reunion with original lineup

Posted by Metal Dude on Friday, November 2, 2012 at 7:34 PM (PST)

In a recent interview with USA Today, Guns N’ Roses frontman Axl Rose (again) dismissed rumors/reports that there will be a reunion with the original lineup. He states:

“The ball’s not in my court. I’m surviving this war, not the one who created this war.”

The original Guns N’ Roses lineup, which lasted from 1985 to 1990, consisted of Axl himself on vocals, Slash on guitar, Izzy Stradlin also on guitar, Duff McKagan on bass and Steven Adler on drums.

Guns N’ Roses are reportedly working on a new album. Their most recent one, Chinese Democracy, was released in 2008 after many years of writing and recording.

Rivals Sons confirm shows with Guns N’ Roses

Posted by XxCrashQueenxX on Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at 12:26 PM (PST)

Rivals Sons have confirmed that they will be the main support act for Guns N’ Roses for two shows in Europe this coming summer.

The band will be opening for Guns N’ Roses on June 4th at Ahoy in Rotterdam, Netherlands, and then at the Warsteiner Hockey Park in Mönchengladbach, Germany on June 8th.

Rival Sons guitarist Scott Holiday had these comments to make:

“What a great, great opportunity to get these shows supporting Guns N’ Roses! Germany has been great to us, and this will only help us reach out to so many more people over there. As far as Guns goes… I remember the first time those guys were ever on MTV, me and my best mate were watching. A total shock to the system, and to me and my friends’ lives. We were really young little dudes, but we already loved our rock ‘n’ roll, and Guns just reeked of reality and grit… I mean they were literally very dirty. And we LOVED it. They ushered in a lot more ‘real’ and dirtiness to a scene that had become way too fruity-pants. As a wee guitar-playing lad, I couldn’t get enough of Appetite For Destruction and Lies. Ready to see and hear some of those first tunes played live!”
