Diamond Head return to North America on Thursday, May 24 for a string of live dates.  The exclusive performances include the band’s return to Rocklahoma where the band are a top billing artist alongside Godsmack, Ghost, Motley Crue’s Vince Neill, and Clutch.

Guitarist Brian Tatler comments: “‘Diamond Head are looking forward to returning to the United States to play at Rocklahoma and five other dates in Texas, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Illinois.”  Continuing he notes, “we were booked to play at last years Rocklahoma but a storm arrived while we were waiting to set up and the festival decided to cancel all the bands for the rest of the evening. It is in hurricane alley after all, I am hoping this time we have good weather.”

Double Beheader: One Night, Two Boroughs, Three Interviews

Posted by NichTheHair on Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at 6:23 PM (PST)

DoubleBeheaderNever before have I thrown myself into two concerts in a night. On top of that, I planned a hat trick of interviews throughout my evening. I was loaded for bear as my night started in Manhattan at The Marlin Room of Webster Hall to catch thrashers Diamond Plate from Chicago and Boston’s Revocation. This marks the second time I’ve seen Revocation. So fun to see live. Both have new albums out and Diamond Plate is sporting a new singer on theirs. I caught up with Diamond Plate’s Matt Ares after their set, along with David Davidson and Phil Dubois of Revocation later.

Post-Gramercy, I hopped a train to Brooklyn to catch the last, and sold the fuck out, show for TesseracT‘s US tour at the mighty Saint Vitus. Vitus is by far the standard for live metal in New York City and was totally pumped to see such a dynamic band on that stage. They had some troubles on the road earlier in the day, so their tardiness was actually a boon for me to get there in enough time in my already insanely booked night. After a ridiculously energetic yet ethereal performance, I spoke with drummer Jay Postones afterwards about this tour and the reception of their new singer, Ashe O’Hara.

My daunting endeavor turned out a to be a huge victory and with you I share the spoils. I got set lists from everyone I interviewed. So if you want to relive the shows, check out the Double Beheader playlist out here.

Interview- Matt Ares of Diamond Plate

Posted by NichTheHair on Monday, November 4, 2013 at 12:25 PM (PST)

IMG_5759The opening bands on a bill can sometimes be the most surprising of the night. Chicago’s thrash youngins Diamond Plate are absolutely destroying the early hours of their current tour with Death Angel, Battlecross3 Inches of Blood, and Revocation. This power trio has recently inducted a new singer. Their latest release on Century Media (Earache in the UK), Pulse, brings in Matt Ares pulling double duty as he rumbles bass guitar as well. They may look young, but these wee riffers know their shit while on stage. Check them out, there’s only a week left in the tour!

Read on here for my interview with Matt.
