Marduk announce North American Fall Tour

Posted by Morgan Ywain Evans on Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at 4:16 PM (PST)

Black metal agitators Marduk will buck the odds and  return to North America once again as they have revealed dates this fall for the “Frontschwein North America Tour: Part 2”. Fresh off an Antifa controversy, it will be interesting to see if this tour goes off without a hitch. I personally hate anti-semitism but Marduk have said they before that they write about the horror of war and  Morgan Steinmeyer Håkansson has been nowhere near as obtuse or opaque on the subject when pressed as more evasive bands. Lemmy sang about WW2 and collected a wide array of historical stuff from different sides of the conflict and he was not a Nazi, for example.

Honestly I am more concerned by Incantation on this tour who I have often dug the music of but have heard various rumors about regarding closeted racism that I hope are not true. If anything, Marduk underscore how terrifying the world can be.

That said, I happen to really enjoy Marduk’s music and am not generally fond of boosting things I think are maybe problematic without at least mentioning it. Marduk are not on that list and Abysmal Dawn fucking rule.

This is pretty crazy shit right here.  Anyone who knows anything about the Norwegian black metal scene in the early 90’s knows about the suicides, murders, and extensive church burnings.  If you don’t, do your research.  Two good places to start are the book, Lords Of Chaos and the movie Until The Light Takes Us. Anyways, this pertains to the infamous suicide of Mayhem singer Per “Dead” Ohlin in April 1991.  It has been widely reported that the band’s founding guitarist Euronymous made necklaces from pieces of the skull after finding Dead…well, dead, in his room.  Dead’s suicide became the stuff of black metal legend. Euronymous also reportedly took several pictures of the body and allegedly sent one to the owner of Warmaster Records in Colombia, who then used it as the cover of the bootleg live Mayhem album Dawn Of The Black Hearts.

So it turns out that the guitarist Morgan Håkansson from legendary black metal band Marduk claims to own piece of Dead’s skull and brain matter.  Whoa.  Seriously?  He was quoted in a recent interview with Loudwire and seems pretty nonchalant about the whole thing.

Weapon enter the studio and announce North American Tour

Posted by jessepac on Thursday, March 22, 2012 at 12:13 PM (PST)

Weapon tourCanadian blackened death metal blasphemers Weapon have recently entered the studio to record their long-awaited Relapse debut and follow up to 2010’s critically acclaimed From The Devil’s Tomb. The band entered the studio on March 18th to self-record the new album along with producer Terry Paholek at The Physics Lab in their hometown of Edmonton, Canada. Continuing on the same scathing path as their previous works, the upcoming release, planned for the Fall of 2012, is sure to be their most vicious and all-out evil offering to date.

Guitarist / Vocalist Vetis Monarch commented on the upcoming album:

“Weapon loyalists can expect no-holds barred, satanic death metal that the band displayed on it’s previous work, but further refined and sharpened to ferocious perfection. ‘Embers And Revelations’ will be the apex of malice via music.”

Additionally, Weapon has confirmed a three-week tour with black metal legends Marduk & 1349 with additional support from Withered. The tour begins on June 2nd in Baltimore, MD and ends on June 20th in San Diego, CA.

Century Media posted the following statement: Some of you might be surprised to see a new face at the Hultsfred Festival tonight when Witchery enter the stage to declare Witchkrieg over Sweden.

Patrik Jensen (guitarist, also in The Haunted):

“We are saddened to announce the departure of Legion (ex-Marduk, ex-Devian), singer of last years Witchery ear crusher “Witchkrieg”. Unfortunately, conflicting schedules made a continued collaboration impossible. We are very thankful for Legion’s input and work on our latest album, and we wish him only the very best for the future.”

“Witchery will however not remain without a leader to take them thru the netherworlds and beyond. None other than Emperor Magus Caligula (ex-Dark Funeral) has decided to once again adorn his armor, and go off to battle for the better of darkness and evil.”

Metal in the Forest 2011 flyerMore bad luck for Mexico’s Metal in the Forest Festival as Swedish black metal veterans Marduk announce that they will not be appearing at the show.  Here is a statement from the band:

“Due to the fact that the promoter of the Metal in the forest festival waited for to long to buy the flight tickets (2 days before and still no flights were booked), it became a situation where there were no longer returning flights available for Marduks other obligations. It doesnt affect any other show then the Metal in the forest festival.”
