Big shoes to fill vocally, but this dude seems up for it. Great scream! Skeletonwitch are too important to the scene and epic to be donezo!

Hail!

Today, the Ohio-based blackened metal quintet SKELETONWITCH – who will join Abbath, High On Fire and Tribulation on this year’s Decibel Magazine Tour, which kicks off March 17 – officially welcomes Adam Clemans (Wolvhammer) as their new vocalist. Last month, the group recorded a new EP, due to be released this summer, with Clemans at Baltimore’s Developing Nations with producer Kevin Bernsten (Magrudergrind, Noisem, Mutilation Rites). A brief teaser of new music can be heard in the below video, in which Clemans discusses how he came to join the band.

“I’m very proud to be a part of the SKELETONWITCH camp, and I’m very excited about how the new EP turned out,” says Clemans. “Working with like-minded musicians is always a pleasure, and I’m confident that the new chapter of this band will carry the SKELETONWITCH banner properly and proudly.”

Adds guitarist Scott Hedrick, “We are extremely excited to announce Adam as the new singer for SKELETONWITCH. He’s a killer vocalist, lyricist, and all-around creative force. Please welcome him to the SKELETONWITCH family as we begin this new chapter. As always, thanks to everyone who has, and continues to, support us.”

Clemans appears alongside Abbath, High On Fire’s Matt Pike and Tribulation’s Johannes Andersson on the cover of the new issue of Decibel Magazine, which hits newsstands on March 2 and is available for pre-order at this location.

This upcoming European Skeletonwitch jaunt gets a huge Metal Riot/The Golden Child bloody oatmeal bowl of approval. Serpents Unleashed had “Unending, Ever Living” on it which was just about the most epic song Skeletonwitch have ever released. Goatwhore‘s last record got a 5 star review on this site. I’ve been rocking a lot of Mortals recently as well in my down time when not writing about music. It is a band I’ve returned to for enjoyment and my time is limited, if that tells you anything.

Other great news is Skeletonwitch are expecting. A little baby skeletonwitch with a bone rattle? No they are EXPECTING a new record to be released later this year if all goes well. Guitarist Scott Hedrick commented, “After we return from melting faces in Europe, our entire focus will be on writing a new album. We have a mountain of riffs and ideas that will be carved into epic tunes. Excited to get started!”

Tour dates HERE. I’d totes skip the pond to follow this tour if I could afford it.

Today, the prestigious Roadburn Festival announced that SKELETONWITCH has been invited to perform at the 2015 edition of the event, which takes place in Tilburg, Holland next April. Pre-sale tickets go on sale Oct. 16.

“Simply put: if you want blackened thrash (or whatever you want to call it – everybody has their own definition of what these Ohio rednecks are supposed to be defined as) of the absolutely highest order, these are your guys,” proclaimed Enslaved guitarist Ivar Bjørnson, who alongside Einar “Kvitrafn” Selvik (Wardruna) has curated the line-up for Roadburn 2015.

Having hand-picked SKELETONWITCH to play, Bjørnson — who toured alongside the group earlier this year — added, “Okay, I’ve gotta admit that once again sharing a backstage area with these wonderful specimens of the human variety is a motivation in itself – but it is of course first and foremost the music that brought about the invite. This is the perfect band to tear down the walls at Roadburn 2015 and seriously shake things up/slap us silly. If ‘Witch’s high-octane metal doesn’t make you headbang like there’s no tomorrow, you’re probably dead.”

Guitarist Nate Garnette had this to say about the video:

“It’s never a bad time when you combine 100 beers, several bloody sheep skulls, murder in the woods and five headbanging maniacs. It’s an even better time when the end result is a killer classic/slasher video. This time we went with the ‘even better time.’ Enjoy!”

Skeletonwitch to enter studio in April

Posted by SeanB on Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at 5:36 PM (PST)

Ohio based blackened death thrash band Skeletonwitch have announced that they will begin recording a new album in April of 2013.  At the helm will be Kurt Ballou of Converge fame with recording done at his GodCity Studios in Salem, Massachusetts.

Skeletonwitch had this to say about the album:

“First off, thanks to everyone who supported Skeletonwitch during this past year. We did some serious gigging in 2012, and your support on the road and of ‘Forever Abomination’ was overwhelming. We would be nowhere without you.

“It’s not just idle hands that do the devil’s work — we’re already deep in the process of writing a new record, which is shaping up to be quite an epic slab of metal, if we may say so ourselves.”

This will be Skeletonwitch’s fifth studio album and the follow up to 2011’s Forever Abomination.  Right now the record is scheduled for release late in 2013 under Prosthetic Records.  We’ll bring you more details when they are available.

Here’s yet another deft description of my darling and I’s many death metal date nights. The destination for this evening of ear-splitting enchantment was to be Irving Plaza in New York City, The Black Dahlia Murder, Nile, and Skeletonwitch our marks. Inside was deceptively small, but not overflowing with heads. We managed to navigate quite nicely through the various merch tables, though lacking a fair amount of brutality in the wears. As for the show, we arrived just in time for Skeletonwitch to take the stage thrusting me right into photo mode in front of the Garnette brothers. Bring it on.

A full debrief over the show and some shitty amazing pictures await you on the next page.
