Yo. It is Tuesday but feels like an extra bad Monday cuz straight up FUCK that Trump and Keebler Elf with a face made for dog dominating Jeff Sessions are pulling mad DACA bullshit. But we can at least rage to some rad heavy music. My soundtrack this morning has been some super chill Rezz Mass Manipulation, some brutish Mantar and this here Clover action we have for ya today! Clover is releasing a new 7″ vinyl later this month and have launched a preorder for it. My friend M. Guthaus elaborates:

“Our last 2 releases have both been full length albums. We decided that our next release was going to be something shorter to give potential new fans something quick and easy to listen to. In my own experience, I have sometimes found it hard to find a good listening starting point in reference to bands I am unfamiliar with who have extensive discographies. Sometimes if you try to start with a full length record, you can become quickly bored if the record is more of a slow burner. What we wanted to do with this release is try to give listeners a full grasp of what our band is all about in 2 songs. The 7” format also worked perfectly for this because we have never released anything on vinyl before.”

“For this release, we decided to put our song “Aurora” on it which we recorded with Will Putney last year for Metal Sucks Converse Rubber Tracks. It is one of the songs we are most proud of as a band so it only seemed right to put it on this record since it never had a formal physical release. We also have included “The Hunter” on this record which is a brand new track that we recorded earlier this year. I think collectively these two songs give a good presentation of what our band is all about.”

It’s awesome to get to write about cool working class bands and remember as a blogger there is a choice behind every post. I’d much rather post something on a cool, sludgy band with hardcore connotations than another fame pandering bunch of bullshit with no heart. It is even cooler when a band has friends in it.

Clover are a rising light in the scene. They have been slugging it out for awhile and remain determined, if humble. That’s good!

They also fucking CRUSH! It’s a very original take on metalcore and groove riffs that is refreshing and bludgeoning as HELL!

Like Tiger Flowers, Womb Of Nations or Dead Empires, the Clover boys are proving the NY scene still has a lot of spark in it.

“We began writing for Exile almost immediately after putting out our first album, Vultures. Halfway through the song writing process, we had noticed a shift in our sound and decided to keep pushing that further and further. I think this record has some of the darkest sounding material we have written to date.” – Michael Guthaus (Clover)

Clover just recently recorded and mashed out a beastly single “Glory Days” on their own, with my old engineer/guitarist buddy D. James Goodwin at The IsOkOn in Woodstock, NY mixing it  (he’s worked with Devo, Murder By Death and my old band Fuse, to name a few). Subsequently, there is now more awesome heavy music in the fuckin’ world!

these are your glory days. enjoy it while they last. everything you’ve done has been pure shit. you will amount to nothing. everyone will forget you. I hope this memory lasts your life. when you look back, I hope you think of me. these are your glory days. enjoy them while they last. you make me sick. I don’t buy your bullshit. choke.

Clover are one of the more rugged bands in the current East Coast hardcore/metal underground in terms of full commitment to accepting the joy in whatever level they are at while beating the shit out of everything in sight with jackhammer riffs in order to make damn sure the whole world knows they exist. I cannot fault this method.
