New Hampshire’s Vattnet (formerly Vattnet Viskar) have announced a September 15th release date for their upcoming self-titled album on New Damage Records. The band’s sound has changed drastically along with the shortened name, though it is still quality music. Time will tell if this shift works and the band retains old fans or simply grows into a new era completely. It probably isn’t a bad idea to do the self-titled sort of re-branding now so they don’t become more firmly established first and then have a self titled Motley Crue type backlash. The band were at a cross-roads after their former frontman left, so this is the perfect time to sort of start semi-fresh, if ever.
Vattnett is now available for pre-order.
A music video for a track titled “Spun” is premiering today on Revolver HERE.
Frontman Casey Aylward tells Revolver, “Spun was the last song I wrote for the record and also the last song we recorded and put together. Conceptually it’s about being uncomfortable and very unhappy in your situation at the time, feeling helpless, feeling like it won’t ever end.” He adds, “The video touches on this theme by using the idea of searching for light within a world of darkness. While some choose to accept or live within the blackness, others try to find or create a light to see their way out. Definitely a song that poured out of me, as if I needed it exorcised from me. When it was done I knew it had to be the first song on the record. I feel like it perfectly introduces what you can expect to hear from the rest of the record, albeit it on a pretty dark note.”Add to My Radar
