Stream / Share KNAAVES‘ “The Serpent’s Root” At THIS LOCATION.

Milwaukee-based metallic hardcore practitioners KNAAVES will release their The Serpent’s Root debut full-length via Confluence Records this fall. KNAAVES is vocalist Andy Parmann and guitarist Jamie Kerwin, formerly of Amora Savant, bassist/vocalist Amanda Daniels formerly of Enabler, and drummer Antonio Ninham formerly of Die Alone.

Surrounded by deceit and destruction – lies from the media, corruption of our planet, and even our own minds shifting thoughts within, each day is a war upon our senses as we struggle to sort out the truth in an age of disinformation. The music of KNAAVES is inspired by the often-palpable negative energy that surrounds us. Some songs are drawn from the media’s manipulation and sensationalism of cults, serial killers, and murders, while others are drawn from anxiety, depression, abuse, neglect, or the relentless destruction of our planet’s resources.

With the combined influences of its members’ previous bands and modern influences like Axis, Black Breath, and Disfear, KNAAVES’ The Serpent’s Root delivers seven unapologetically heavy tracks of pissed-off grooves, dark melodic riffs, and emotionally-driven lyrics. The Serpent’s Root was produced, recorded, edited, and mixed by Kerwin at Davidian Studios and mastered by Brad Boatright (Converge, Integrity, Obituary, Vastum) at Audiosiege with artwork by Scott Shellhamer (American Heritage, Ghosts And Vodka). The record will be released September 3rd on CD, digital, and cassette formats via Confluence Records.

KNAAVES will play a special hometown record release show on September 13th as well as a show in Chicago with Venom Prison, Homewrecker, and Call Of The Void on September 22nd with additional performances to be announced in the weeks to come. See all confirmed dates below.

Hey every rocker out there. How was your weekend? I had a good one. Had a great heart to heart with my old friend Chris Bittner who just worked on the newest Coheed and Cambria record that is coming out and I felt a lot of good will afterwards and a desire to try and let negative bygones be bygones with those dudes. We have a lot of mutual friends and while I def hope sometime they acknowledge my sister Cambria in order for me to feel fully heard and respected for her sake, I also can’t blame them too much for being wary of me at all or having a grudge to nurse after how bad our fighting got over the years.

But I will say here that I am feeling really good and hope for much better healing energy going forward and wish them well. I really appreciated Bittner coming to talk to me in person after last week and listening to me about my struggles with hormone levels and PTSD when I was triggered by some unrelated stuff last week and happened to also admonish them in some tweets about some old shit. But I really hope we can grow here, be thankful for our lives and families and remember that life gives chances to treat ourselves and others better. PMA. New album sounds cool. New song HERE.

Anyhow, I am in a super good mood today as a result of that compartmentalized tension lifting off my shoulders and had some herb and drove around blasting some Chinese Democracy cuz it is fucking great no matter what some of y’all might think. My apartment is like a million degrees and thankfully my gf is installing some fans for us while I blather like a hot sweaty lazy blob, haha. I did work two jobs already today, gimme a break!

But ANYWAY, more super awesome news to kick off the week! NE OBLIVISCARIS have announced North American headliner tour dates to coincide with their support run for WinterSun. While I would want to see them with WinterSun probably as both bands are tremendously skilled, these other dates will entice die hards as they feature the band’s full 90+ minute headline sets, and stop in Orlando, Portland, OR, Kansas City, and more. A full list of confirmed tour dates can be found below.

NE OBLIVISCARIS are touring in support of their new album ‘Urn’. ‘Urn’ is streaming here.

Metallic hardcore up and comers Knaaves are fucking righteous and incredible. Along with the new Baptists and Jesus Piece I think the Knaaves material is by far the rowdiest and most adrenalized stuff I have heard from any heavy band this year. Anyhow, Knaaves have a new limited tape for order of their recent January two songer! Pick it up like change in a Sick Of It All pit, kids!! Only 100 copies of the tape available!

Ok I have a late newspaper article to write for another publication and am sweatier than Trump’s perspiring and nervous sycophants as Mueller closes in, so I will talk to y’all later in the week. Check out that NE OBLIVISCARIS tour run of dates below. Urn is dark and majestic and surely brilliant stuff live.

There are a lot of bands to be excited about in metal right now, but few have the kinetic electricity and obvious spark that Milwaukee’s metallic hardcore act KNAAVES are bringing to the scene. The group have a concise and fiery approach and a clear drive, the kind of intensity that will likely appeal to fans of Converge, Baptists, Immortal Bird or even Disfear. Their new 2 song release January is a must hear that is poised to make a lot of people take notice.

Amanda Daniels (bass) is one of my most valued friends in the metal scene. I was a big fan of her old band Enabler and believed her and got to know her better around the time that the abuse she suffered in that group became known. She is awesome and it is so great to have her presence and energy back in a group who have a ton of potential and positive energy/momentum. She is really deserving of your support and I am assuming so are the rest of the band – which features Andy Parmann (Vox), Jamie Kerwin (Guitar) and Antonio Ninham (drums).  Their music is a powerful release and we can’t wait to hear more stuff from them.

It was great to get a chance to catch up with Amanda and hear about the new project. She spoke about the recent 2 song, show and video plans, #metoo and more with myself and singer Elizabeth Le Fey (Globelamp).
