The debate between Peter Gabriel and Phil Collins obviously goes to Phil (he collabed with Bone Thugs, Tarzan and “Against All Odds” can make anyone cry). When it comes to the solo prowess of Scott Kelly and Steve Von Till of Neurosis it is harder to pick a favorite, and you almost don’t want to. Both have released incredibly moving and introspective works that have challenged them to touch upon new foundations creatively while also pulling from known strengths. My all time favorites from them as solo endeavors would probably be Scott’s brooding folksterpiece The Forgiven Ghost In Me and Steve’s awe inspiring Harvestman meditation Music For Megaliths.

Anyhow, all that aside it is always rad to see either of these true artists resurface to do solo appearances. The creativity over-floweth from one vessel.

Taking place in the shadows of the Grand Teton Mountains in Wyoming, Fire In The Mountains MMXX will take place July 10th through 12th. Steve Von Till joins the lineup which includes Enslaved as well as Yob, Obsequiae and many more. In addition to Enslaved’s headlining performance of the gathering, the band’s Ivar Bjørnson is the 2020 feature curator, presenting a special “On Wings Over Utgard” segment of the fest, in which Von Till will be performing. Neurosis, Converge, Amen Ra West Coast Summer Madness

Posted by Morgan Y Evans - Walking Bombs on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at 1:01 PM (PST)

Neurosis, Converge and Amen Ra return as a touring package to devastate the West Coast!

Nearly one year after touring Eastern North America with Converge and Amenra, NEUROSIS will now bring this show to fans on the other end of the continent. The new tour will begin on July 6th in Seattle, running through Vancouver, Portland, Berkeley, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Santa Ana, San Diego, Phoenix, Albuquerque, Denver, Lawrence, Dallas, ending in Austin on July 21st.

Converge are arguably supporting one of their best records in awhile, Amen Ra are always brilliant and deserving of more attention and Neurosis are, well…Neurosis.

Tickets will go on sale this Friday, March 23rd at 10am local time. See all new dates and links below.

Released in September 2016, NEUROSIS’ acclaimed eleventh studio LP Fires Within Fires is available now on CD, LP, cassette, and all digital platforms through the band’s own Neurot Recordings; stream the album HERE and see all bundles and options HERE.

SCOTT KELLY of NEUROSIS announces a European solo tour for early 2018, where he’ll be accompanied by John Judkins of Rwake.

The tour will be supported by the release of a 7″ EP which captures the two artists performing at their show at White Water Tavern in Little Rock, Arkansas on March 3rd, 2017, during a US tour together. In selecting these two songs for the release, SCOTT KELLY offers, “we felt that they show the depth, emotion, and life that we are trying to bring to them.”

This limited edition live 7″ will be sold throughout the tour via My Proud Mountain, available in quantities of 200 on purple vinyl and 100 on black vinyl. A full overview of the dates can be found below.

Neurosis are (and always likely will be) the reigning post-metal champs, a term that falls far short of capturing a sound that reaches into the depths with claw tipped roots, crosses the oceans with the spirit of the wanderer and screams at the heavens as the vastness of the void evokes awe, fear and desire. The seeds of their future were first sewn on the long out of print The Word As Law, a record that has been their most underground classic for too long. Seriously, for the longest time my friend Matto from Peterwalkee Records was the only East Coast punk besides me I knew who had even heard it.

Today Neurosis are streaming the record in full on their bandcamp, remastered by Shellac’s Bob Weston and featuring updated and tweaked art from Josh Graham that fits in nicely next to their other reissues and current ‘look’. But again, they were already anticipating “Tomorrow’s Reality” and the record itself settles in perfectly in their development to the listener while able to hang toe to toe with ANY of this years often ‘so-called’ hardcore albums.

“To What End” alone is so ahead of the curve it is almost laughable how long it took many other bands to catch on. This record perfectly combines their early punk rage with a more experimental hardcore approach (def feel the Rudimentary Peni influence they always talk about on some of these numbers). Pretty sure this is the first one with Von Till and their are no keys but man, the cool guitar tones and those punk ass basslines slay. This record has so much to offer new generations and hopefully many people will discover it again.

Much like my favorite Beatles album Revolver, you can hear the band having breakthrough after breakthrough as artists in real time.

Stream the entire album early at the Neurot Recordings Bandcamp HERE, and find merch bundles through the Neurot webstore at THIS LOCATION.

Oh yeah! Went to a great Murder By Death show last night and I’m opening for Jake E. Lee’s Red Dragon Cartel tonight but thought I’d do a little Metal Riot work first. Such sweet news for this Friday to help you start your weekend right. This from camp Relapse just in:

As the next chapter in Relapse Records’ ongoing 25th anniversary commemoration, heavy music visionaries NEUROSIS will have two of their most revered and long out-of-print titles reissued on super deluxe 180-gram double vinyl this fall. Through Silver in Blood (1996), which Fact Magazine recently deemed the #1 best post-metal album of all time, has not been printed on vinyl in ten years, while Times of Grace (1999) is seeing its first pressing in over fifteen years. Additionally, Grace, the 1999 Tribes of Neurot companion piece to Times of Grace, will also see a deluxe Relapse reissue, its first time ever on vinyl.

Each reissue will contain reinterpretations of the original iconic artwork and will be housed in heavy duty “tip-on” jackets and will be available in a variety of limited edition exclusive colors. The reissues are set for worldwide release  September 4th  and will also include full album digital download codes. Preorders for all of the editions can be currently found HERE.

Neurosis confirm Heavy Montreal appearance

Neurosis are arguably the band the most heavier leaning and cerebral artsy types can all agree on as outright kings in their field. The long running band of psychedelic tribal warriors were birthed from the Pain Of Mind political days but evolved over the years into nearly a force of nature themselves. We even gave their Honor Found In Decay record a five star review. Yep, there might as well be a fifth season called Neurosis. The band of deeply rooted punk metal elite champions will trek north to make an appearance at Heavy Montreal this year amidst a line-up including NOFX, Faith No More, Slipknot, Mr. Iggy Pop, Testament and Korn.

Neurot family welcomes Yob to label ranks

Neurot Recordings is pleased to welcome long-running Eugene, Oregon-based doom metal trio, YOB, to their expanding household of eclectic, thought-provoking music. The band — founding vocalist/guitarist Mike Scheidt, drummer Travis Foster and bassist Aaron Rieseberg — will release their seventh studio offering this Fall preceded by an appearance at the illustrious Roadburn Festival in Tilburg, The Netherlands in April.

Comments Scheidt of the recent union,YOB is very happy to have signed to Neurot for our new album. Travis, Aaron and I agree that Neurosis is the epitome of forward-thinking heavy music, made with zero compromise. Our love for their music is total. Neurot’s dedication to putting out uncompromising music is no different. To have this opportunity to put an album out on their label is an honor that runs deep. We cannot wait to share our new music with Neurot and our friends worldwide.

Neurosis’ Steve Von Till notes, “This was meant to be. Neurot has always sought out to work with those who share in the purification of spirit through sound and who harvest their sound from originality and intensity. When I listen to YOB, see them leave it all on the stage, or share a  conversation with them about life,  I can say beyond a shadow of a doubt that they embody what Neurot stands for completely and we are so very honored that we get the opportunity to work together with them on their next album.”

Adds Scott Kelly, YOB, as with all things that actually matter, there is only one. They have built their temple with a foundation concreted in absolute truth. The truth is the riffs, the truth is in the delivery, it’s in the unwavering commitment, and in the handshake and the look in their eyes. If you don’t know them, then you are fucking up your own lifes’ truth. There’s is nothing heavier on the face of this earth than this band. The Neurot Family is honored to be a part of legacy of this, the monolithic treasure of sonic achievement that is YOB.”
